Job description
As a CBT Examiner you will operate across a wide geographic network, covering a wide range of duties (where appropriately qualified) including; Motorcycle Instructor Qualification Tests, Standards Checks, Motorcycle testing duties when required, Training Site Inspections and Compliance Checks and Enforcement Duties/Activities at DVSA operated sites and third party premises.
You will ensure the delivery of high quality, efficient and effective services that meet customers needs and delivers the achievement of Business Plan targets and standards; always looking for value for money and consistency of service.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;
- Arrange, administer and conduct Instructor Standards Checks, ATB Compliance Checks, Training Site Inspections, Instructor Qualification Tests, ERS Standards checks in accordance with laid down criteria and procedures.
- Conduct motorcycle tests as and when required (minimum 1 day a quarter).
- Maintain accurate records of all contacts with stakeholders in line with SOPs.
- Maintain relationships with internal CBT Team colleagues for the purposes of maintaining consistency of approach.

Person specification
To thrive in this role, you will:
- Bring proven experience in delivering motorcycle training, with a clear understanding of the challenges and outcomes involved.
- Understand DVSA's rider testing across all motorcycle categories, with knowledge of road safety issues in relation to drivers, riders, and other road users.
- Demonstrate a high standard of driving and riding expertise, at an advanced level.
- Communicate effectively in a wide range of circumstances, tailoring your approach to different audiences.
- Show strong collaboration, stakeholder, and relationship management skills.
- Display excellent planning and organisational ability, being self-directed with the capacity to generate and manage your own workload.
Working hours, office attendance and travel requirements
Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 35 hours per week.
Your presence at one of the advertised locations will form part of the working arrangements agreed with you.
This role is suitable for hybrid working, and therefore a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements. Hybrid working is a non-contractual arrangement where employees have the flexibility to work remotely combined with a minimum of 60% of their working time a month at either their principal workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, to carry out separate duties at alternative working locations or DVSA sites. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.

Please note that this role will require the successful applicant to travel frequently, including overnight stays when required and the willingness to work flexibly.
Regular use of a DVSA motorcycle is required. A DVSA motorcycle will be provided from the start of the training course. On successful completion of training, motorcycle equipment will be issued, and an annual garage allowance is payable. Use of DVSA equipment is subject to ongoing role requirements.
