The F-35 Lightning Programme is one of the UK's most important defence capabilities, requiring the highest levels of security assurance and compliance.

We are seeking a highly motivated and professional Deputy Facility Security Manager (D-FSM) to join the SAP Facility Security Team. Supporting the Facility Security Manager (FSM) and Enclave Security Manager (ESM), you will play a key role in protecting classified information, personnel, systems and facilities, ensuring the continued accreditation and secure operation of the F-35 Special Access Programme .

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Successful candidates will be required to work an 8-hour shift pattern. Shifts may be rostered at any time between 0600 hrs and 2359 hrs, according to operational requirements.

About the Role

As the Deputy Facility Security Manager, you will support the delivery of all aspects of security management across the SAP Facility. You will help ensure compliance , safeguarding classified information and maintaining the integrity, availability and confidentiality of programme assets.

You will act as a trusted security adviser, working closely with internal stakeholders, external security authorities and programme partners to maintain the highest standards of security assurance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Facility Security Manager in the day-to-day management of the SAP Facility Security Programme.
  • Manage and oversee access control procedures for personnel, visitors and contractors.
  • Maintain security records, personnel security documentation and classified material control processes.
  • Conduct security audits, inspections and assurance activities to verify compliance.
  • Investigate, report and support the resolution of security incidents and breaches.
  • Deliver security briefings, awareness training and education programmes.
  • Provide expert advice on physical, personnel, information and operational security matters.
  • Support risk management, security governance and business continuity planning activities.
  • Assist in maintaining facility accreditation and preparing for external inspections.
  • Lead and support Security Administrative Assistants, ensuring effective delivery of security administration processes.
  • Foster strong working relationships with MOD stakeholders, programme partners and external security agencies.

About You

We are looking for an organised, proactive and professional individual who can operate confidently in a complex security environment.

You will have:

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in security management, security administration or a related security discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of information, personnel and physical security principles.
  • Experience of working within a regulated or compliance-driven environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections or assurance activities.
  • Ability to analyse risks and provide practical security solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and security record management.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a wider security team.

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of MOD security policy, including JSP 440 and Defence security standards.
  • Experience within a Special Access Programme (SAP), defence, aerospace or government environment.
  • Experience managing classified information and secure facilities.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Security-related qualifications or professional accreditation.

Security Requirements

Due to the nature of the role, the successful applicant will be required to hold, or be willing and eligible to obtain and maintain, the appropriate level of UK National Security Vetting and any additional access authorisations required to work within the F-35 Special Access Programme environment.
