Digital Engagement Officer

Civil Service

Job Description

Job summary

In the Department of Health and Social Care, we are proud of our purpose to enable everyone to live more independent, healthier lives for longer. To achieve this, and create a great place to work, we have four values: we are inclusive, we constantly improve, we challenge, and we are agile. If this sounds like an environment you would like to work in, we would love to hear from you.

The DHSC Digital Transformation team works with the national health and care system to realise the benefits of digital, data and technology, to deliver better end to end services for their users and for the professionals who provide them.

We dont manage live digital services; our role is more strategic. We partner with policy and commissioning teams to deliver user centred, design-led change, and to act as a bridge between policy and digital delivery teams. We support the Department and its arms' length bodies in a range of different ways - from providing short-term consultancy advice and digital training, to running full discoveries and alphas, and embedding team members in wider beta or live delivery teams.

We champion standards, user-centred design and accessibility in everything that we do.

Job description

As a Digital Engagement Officer, you will support engagement between DHSC and external partners, helping to strengthen collaboration across the wider health and care system. You will work with colleagues across DHSC and partner organisations to coordinate engagement activities, support stakeholder relationships and help identify opportunities for organisations to share knowledge, capability and good practice.

Working closely with the Digital Business Partnering team, you will help improve visibility of digital, data and technology priorities, support collaborative initiatives and ensure stakeholders remain connected to the right forums, communities and sources of support. You will play an important role in helping the team gather insight, coordinate activity and maintain strong relationships across a diverse external stakeholder network.

Role responsibilities

We are looking for an organised and collaborative individual who enjoys working with people and helping teams achieve their objectives. You will be comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, coordinating activity across multiple priorities and supporting effective communication between organisations.

You will have strong organisational and communication skills, an eye for detail and an interest in how digital, data and technology can support organisational improvement. You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and be motivated by helping others work more effectively together.

You will be proactive, adaptable and able to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team environment.

  • Produce high-quality briefings, reports, presentations and communications to support stakeholder engagement and decision-making.
  • Support the implementation of recommendations and agreed actions arising from engagement activity, helping coordinate work across multiple organisations.
  • Maintain accurate records of stakeholder engagement, actions, risks and dependencies, ensuring information is accessible and up to date.

  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple activities, manage competing priorities and maintain attention to detail.
  • Experience supporting projects, programmes, engagement activities or collaborative initiatives within a professional environment.
  • Understanding of what enables successful digital, data or technology delivery and an interest in digital transformation and improvement.

Desirable

  • Knowledge and understanding of the public sector, ideally with experience within digital, technology, health or wider government settings.
  • Experience producing briefings, reports, presentations or communications for senior stakeholders.
