Salary**: National: 58,511 - 65,329.
London: 63,343 - 70,725 (which may include an allowance up to 332).

The Hardware Asset & Licence Management Lead is responsible for effective governance and assurance of IT assets across the MoJ estate. The role ensures that asset information is accurate, reliable, and maintained throughout the asset lifecycle. Working collaboratively with stakeholders, the postholder resolves issues promptly, drives corrective actions, and embeds high-quality asset management practices. They contribute to the development of strategies, policies, and standards, and provide clear, actionable insight on asset performance. The role champions the adoption of modern tooling and automation to improve service efficiency, accuracy, and user outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be able to develop, implement, and continuously improve Hardware Asset & Configuration Management policies, standards, and processes aligned to GDD best practice, while also driving operational and strategic improvements using automation, data, and service insights to enhance decision-making and service delivery. They will build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders , represent the function at key governance and stakeholder forums, and ensure alignment with wider ITSM and organisational priorities.
They will provide assurance on asset data quality , identifying, assessing, and escalating risks appropriately, and will work collaboratively with wider service management functions to ensure effective delivery of Hardware Asset & Licence Management activities, including audits, verification, and compliance. The role requires the ability to produce clear, timely management information that supports performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
The postholder will lead and develop the team , fostering a high‑performing and inclusive culture aligned to the GDD profession, while identifying and leading continuous service improvement activities that enhance value for money, maturity, and service outcomes. They will also engage with major change initiatives and programmes to ensure asset and licence management requirements are incorporated into design and delivery and will provide technical insight and subject matter expertise on toolset integrations, discovery tooling, and initiatives that support asset management maturity.
Finally, they will translate the teams charter into clear deliverables and objectives , ensuring alignment with MoJ strategic goals.

Person Specification
Essential
- Asset & Configuration Management - Demonstrable experience of leading and governing Hardware Asset, Software Asset and Configuration Management practices, ensuring accurate asset data, lifecycle control and compliance across a complex organisation.
- Continual Service Improvement - Proven ability to identify, lead and implement continual service improvement initiatives that deliver measurable improvements in service performance, efficiency and user outcomes.
- IT Service Reporting - Experience of producing and presenting meaningful service and asset management reporting, using data and insights to support decision-making and drive performance improvements.
- Ownership & Initiative - Demonstrable ability to take ownership of complex issues and priorities, proactively driving solutions and delivering outcomes with minimal supervision.
- Service Focus - Proven commitment to delivering high-quality, user-centred services that meet organisational needs and contribute to positive customer outcomes.
- Service Management Framework Knowledge - Strong knowledge and practical application of IT Service Management frameworks and best practice, such as ITIL, to support effective governance and service delivery.
- Stakeholder Relationship Management - Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, influencing decisions and delivering successful business outcomes.
- Strategic Thinking - Experience of developing and implementing strategic plans that align service delivery and asset management activities with organisational objectives and future priorities.
