As a Lead Business Relationship Manager (BRM) within the Digital & Information Directorate (DID), you will lead the professional Business Relationship Management function that connects CPS business priorities with digital, data and information services. Operating within the Government Digital and Data Profession framework and applying Business Relationship Management Professional (BRMP) principles, you will act as a senior strategic partner across CPS Areas, Casework Divisions, HQ Directorates, Criminal Justice System partners and multidisciplinary DID teams.

You will lead engagement with internal and external stakeholders to ensure complex needs, risks, opportunities and challenges are understood, prioritised and communicated effectively. Using trusted relationships, business insight and professional judgement, you will shape demand, influence prioritisation, promote user-centred approaches, and help ensure digital and data services deliver measurable value, improved user outcomes and operational efficiency.

The role is central to strengthening relationship maturity across CPS and DID. You will help colleagues articulate business problems, translate insight into opportunities for digital and data services, and build confidence in digital transformation and data security.

You will also lead the directorate's engagement and communications approach, supporting national networks, senior forums and cross-system engagement activity, ensuring communications are clear, purposeful and aligned to operational priorities. Working across organisational boundaries, you will help create conditions for meaningful connections, shared ownership and positive outcomes.

As a senior leader within the BRM profession, you will set direction for Business Relationship Managers, assure the quality and impact of their work, develop capability across the team, and help CPS and DID achieve shared outcomes.

The Crown Prosecution Service is based in England and Wales. You must be aged 16 or over at the point of starting in this role. The expected start date is approximately 812 weeks after the application closing date. You are expected to commence employment as soon as possible following the expiry of your notice period. Requests for significantly later start dates may not be accommodated.

As part of this role, you are expected to undertake direct line management responsibilities.

  • You act as a strategic partner between CPS business areas, CJS partners and DID, aligning organisational priorities with digital, data and information services.
  • You build and lead trusted stakeholder relationships, creating meaningful connections that enable collaboration, shared ownership and positive organisational outcomes.
  • You shape and prioritise demand by identifying business needs, risks, challenges and opportunities, and translating them into actionable digital and data opportunities.
  • You influence strategic decision-making through business insight, professional judgement and a deep understanding of operational, user and organisational needs.
  • You champion value creation and relationship maturity, applying BRMP principles to strengthen partnerships, improve outcomes and maximise the value of digital and data investments.
  • You promote user-centred change, ensuring services reflect user needs, support operational priorities and deliver measurable business benefits.
  • You dead and develop the BRM profession, setting direction for Business Relationship Managers, building capability, assuring quality, and embedding professional BRM practice across CPS.

Person specification

To be eligible to apply, you need:

  • demonstrable experience operating at a strategic level, translating organisational priorities, challenges and opportunities into digital, data or technology-enabled requirements, recommendations or business value.
  • significant experience of building and sustaining trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across complex organisations, aligning priorities and achieving outcomes without direct authority.
  • proven experience of shaping, prioritising and communicating business needs, using insight to define problem spaces, assess opportunities, and support evidence-based decision-making.
  • experience of leading engagement across complex stakeholder environments, such as multi-agency partnerships, national networks, senior forums, or cross-directorate initiatives.
  • experience of leading teams and developing professional capability, setting direction, assuring quality, supporting performance, and enabling colleagues to deliver effective stakeholder relationship management and business outcomes.

It is desirable that you have the below experience but this is not required to apply:

  • experience applying Business Relationship Management, business analysis, service improvement or value management approaches.
  • experience of working within a digital, data, technology, or information management environment.
  • a Business Relationship Management Professional (BRMP) or Certified Business Relationship Manager (CBRM) qualification.
  • knowledge of the Government Digital and Data Profession framework, particularly the Lead Business Relationship Manager role, stakeholder relationship management, user focus, strategic thinking and business analysis skills.
