The role and responsibilities
As a Policy Analyst, you will help shape and improve pensions policy that affects millions of savers across the UK. You will work with colleagues, government partners and industry specialists to gather evidence, understand complex issues and develop practical policy solutions. Your work will support the effective regulation of occupational pensions and automatic enrolment duties, helping to protect savers and build confidence in the pensions system.
You will contribute to developing, delivering and reviewing policy products such as codes, guidance and evaluations, as well as supporting ongoing improvements to existing policies. Collaboration is central to the roleyou will bring together different perspectives, communicate clearly with a range of audiences and help embed policy into day‑to‑day practice. You will also build your own skills in policy development, analysis and regulatory approaches, gaining a strong understanding of how policy is designed, tested and implemented. Essential criteria
- Awareness of pensions, insurance or similar financial products and their regulatory frameworks
- Understanding of public policy‑making principles and methodologies, including development and implementation
- Ability to carry out high‑quality research and analysis to support evidence‑based policy
- Ability to understand and summarise large volumes of written and numerical information
- Ability to think critically, challenge evidence and make recommendations
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Effective time management and prioritisation skills, with a proactive and flexible approach
- Experience of working in a government, research or regulatory policy‑making environment, or supporting policy or change initiatives
