This role is available until 31st March 2027 as a fixed term appointment for external candidates or as a secondment for colleagues employed directly by the College, civil service or police staff.

National Centre for Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) & Public Protection (PP)
Would you like to join a skilled and dedicated team of professionals who are committed to reducing the prevalence of VAWG and Public Protection (PP) offences across England and Wales, as part of a wider-system approach?
This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to join the National Centre for Violence Against Women and Girls & Public Protection (NCVPP) within the College of Policing. The NCVPP provides support to forces in tackling the threat of VAWG and PP and improving our services to victims. You will also work with academics, victim groups and across Government to support our ambition and to ensure our work reflects the lived experiences of diverse communities.
We are working to continually train and upskill our officers and staff with the specialist knowledge and expertise required to carry out their roles effectively. We also continue to develop programmes, expanding on existing best practice with a focus on perpetrators and preventing life-long harm to victims.

Our vetting
If you are successful at interview, you will be required to undertake pre-employment security checks. You will be sent a security questionnaire which must be accessed within 24 hours.

These roles will be one of the primary and vital links between the National Centre for VAWG and Public Protection (NCVPP) and forces. Within the team, there are nine posts in total which will operate regionally, supporting regional networks across England and Wales. It is a hands-on role with forces; helping them to adopt and embed Operation Soteria and the National Operating Model and to implement the change needed within each force and escalating challenges faced by forces so that national issues can be resolved. The role will also support forces to deliver the objectives of the NCVPP as set out in the Strategic Delivery Plan for 2026 and 2027.
The roles will also be responsible for ensuring local forces are building relationships with each other across the region, and with their Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and third sector partners. These include agencies such as Women's Aid, Safe Lives and Rape Crisis, however there will be an expectation on the role holder to research and develop relationships with local services to form part of the wider Regional Network.
The role entails extensive travel in England and Wales, to internal and external venues.

Person specification
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and manage the implementation of Soteria and NCVPP priorities, building strong, collaborative relationships with forces and key partners to support effective delivery.
- Act as the principal escalation point for forces, resolving implementation issues promptly while protecting the academic integrity and intent of NCVPP.
- Represent the NCVPP nationally, influencing stakeholders through evidence‑based advice, presentations and participation in NPCC, APCC and Home Office forum
To be successful in this role youll need:
- Understand and demonstrate high levels of experience in working within the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) sector either through policing or the sector itself.
- Knowledge of Operation Soteria during the last two years.
- Interpersonal skills to help build rapport creating strong, effective, credible and successful stakeholder relationships.
- Experience in engaging with stakeholders at all levels and from different organisations.
