Job description

The role reports to the Senior SAP Business Analyst and works closely with Service Managers, Delivery Managers, Product Owners (Finance, Commercial and HR) and Operational Teams. Corporate Systems digital products (including SAP) are continuously improved and aligned to Government Shared Services Strategy.

The Corporate Systems Service is responsible for the SAP back-office system used by Finance, Commercial and HR teams, as well as employees across the organisation. The team is delivering a major project to transition the system and business processes to a new shared service in 2029/30

Day to day youll work closely with the SAP Business Analyst and Lead Delivery Manager. Youll also work closely with different delivery teams, internally and with other Government Departments, with external suppliers, and Change Management and Communications.

Salary

New entrants to the Civil Service are expected to start on the minimum of the pay band. Internal rules apply to existing Civil Servants, i.e. level transfers move on current salary or the pay range minimum, transfers on promotion move to new pay range minimum or receive 10% increase. Either case is determined by whichever is the highest

Working hours:

Standard working week is 37 hours, Part time at 20 hours or above, flexible working hours policy available

Office Attendance

This role is contractually based in Bristol, 10 minute walk from Temple Meads train station. We recognise and value the mutual benefits of hybrid working and have a flexible approach to in person attendance, which can vary dependent on the requirements of individual business units - the details of which can be discussed with candidates if invited to attend an interview.

Person specification

Essential Criteria

  • Experience of providing subject matter expertise of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) processes to maximise the potential benefits of planned and future system improvements in Finance and Procurement Systems.
  • Have good knowledge of ERP best practice processes within Finance and Control and Procurement business flows and understand integration between them with scenarios such as Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Record to Report and the integration between HR and Finance.
  • Proven ability to conduct options analysis, assess feasibility and operational impact, quantify potential business benefits and contribute to business case development.
  • Experience in ensuring solutions align with the vision, objectives, business and user needs and provide the expected benefits and outcomes.
  • Analytical skills, critical-thinking and advanced data analysis to get to the root cause of the business issue and understanding how a business system operates.
  • Experience of business modelling as an approach to visualise business systems through conceptual models such as process maps.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external system users to gain understanding of user behaviour, attitudes and needs and experience of stakeholder engagement.
