We tackle those that pose the greatest risk to our safety and security. We operate proactively at the high end of high risk, undertaking investigations to bring offenders to justice.

The NCA has a wide remit and we are looking for committed individuals to join us in a Business Support capacity, to provide vital administrative and professional expertise across all departments in the NCA.

This role is an exciting opportunity to become a vital member of one of our teams you will gain vast knowledge and experience with no two days being the same.

Job description

You will manage a team responsible for providing business support and governance to operations, corporate and central service functions and contribute towards the achievement of the strategic objectives of the National Crime Agency (NCA). To develop, implement and improve core delivery functions and support services. Along with supporting the development and implementation of strategy and policy.

There are business support roles within our operational and capabilities(non-operational) functions. The Business Support role is a great way to explore an area of business you are most interested in and acting as a Single Point of Contact for them, becoming an expert within the designated business. We appreciate candidates will have preferences in different business areas and will be considered in the broadest sense across the agency. The location and preferences available are clearly set out in the Application Process section should you choose to specify.

Please Note: Security Vetting requirements - To be considered, you will need to successfully complete SC Enhanced clearance before commencing the role and for some roles achieve DV clearance within the first 12 months in post. In some cases DV may be required on entry.

Duties and Responsibilities

Manage a Team - Manage a team supporting the business through policy development, planning, performance, service delivery and governance.

Manage Resources - Manage and direct resources to ensure work is completed within agreed timescales/financial constraints and quality standards, in line with Agency policy.

Supervise Administration - Supervise the research, development, collation, co-ordination and dissemination of management information including policy, reports, briefings, business plans risk registers, presentations and web based communications as appropriate

Manage Case Management - Manage/supervise case management, planning activity or campaigns (as appropriate).

Develop and Manage Processes - Develop policy, reports, procedures and manage/monitor data systems across business areas.

Provide Advice and Support - Provide managers and officers with advice, guidance and support as and when needed.

Manage Data Governance - Supervise the quality, secure handling and dissemination of data/information, maintaining confidentiality, sensitivity and a duty of care in line with Agency policy.

Work with external and internal stakeholders - Work with government departments, statutory bodies, private organisations, academia and industry (as appropriate) and attend working groups, government committees / meetings (as required).

Conduct PDS - Set SMART objectives, have regular 1-1's with officers and complete PDS process in line with NCA Policy and deadlines.

Training - Induction training and informal coaching as required, depending on the experience level of the team. Facilitating opportunities for continuous development.

Performance Management - Manage issues relating to the performance and conduct of officers in line with Agency values/policy.

Entry Requirements

As part of the application process, you will be required to complete an online situational judgement test. This test will assess the following criteria:

1. Experience of developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships to achieve joint goals.

2. A good understanding of how to handle sensitive data and information or intelligence, including relevant data protection considerations.

3. Experience of prioritising and managing competing demands in a fast-paced environment with responsibility for team outcomes.

You will be expected to achieve a minimum of 80% in order to meet the eligibility for the role. Candidates who do not complete the test or achieve the pass rate will be rejected and the rest of the application will not be assessed.
