Job Description
Job summary
The SIA is the organisation responsible for the regulation of private security. It is an independent, arms length body (ALB) of the Home Office, reporting to the Home Secretary, under the terms of the Private Security Industry Act 2001. The SIAs purpose is protecting the public through effective regulation of the private security industry and working with partners to raise standards across the sector. Its regulatory remit covers the whole of the United Kingdom.
The SIA has two main duties: the compulsory licensing of individuals undertaking designated activities within the private security industry and the management of a voluntary Approved Contractor Scheme, which measures private security suppliers against independently assessed criteria.
SIA licensing covers security operatives who are in guarding, door supervision, close protection, cash and valuables in transit, and public space surveillance using CCTV, vehicle immobilisation (in Northern Ireland) and key holding. Licensing ensures that private security operatives are fit and proper persons who are properly trained and qualified to do their job.
Job description
We are looking for an exceptional Senior Manager Intelligence (Research, Analysis & Engagement) to develop and lead a high-performing team at the heart of protecting the public, strengthening regulation, and tackling emerging threats across critical sectors.
This is a rare opportunity to shape and lead a modern intelligence function operating across strategic, tactical and operational levels. You will oversee researchers, analysts and specialist partner engagement leads, turning information into actionable intelligence that informs decisions, directs operational activity, and supports national priorities. From serious and organised crime risks to counter terrorism considerations and the implementation of Martyns Law, your work will help identify threats early and ensure coordinated action is taken.
You will work with senior stakeholders across government departments, policing, counter terrorism networks, regulatory bodies and internal leadership teams, building trusted partnerships that strengthen intelligence sharing and disruption activity. If you thrive in environments where collaboration, judgement and influence matter, this role offers the platform to operate at a senior level at an exciting time for the organisation.
We are seeking an inspiring leader with significant experience managing intelligence, research or analytical teams within law enforcement, regulatory or public sector settings. You will bring strong people leadership, the ability to manage competing priorities, and the confidence to guide teams through complex challenges while developing talent and driving continuous improvement.
In return, you will join an organisation with an ambitious future-facing agenda, where intelligence is recognised as a core strategic capability. With hybrid working, a permanent contract, and bases in London or Manchester, this is a role that combines purpose, progression and flexibility.
If you are ready to lead with insight, inspire high-performing teams, and make a meaningful contribution to public protection and national security, we would love to hear from you. Apply now and bring your expertise to a role where your decisions will matter every day.
