Overview
The MoJ Property Directorate is a customer focused organisation that exists to enable our customers to perform to their very best. Our job is to manage one of the most diverse and complex estates in Government hosted by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). The MoJ Property Directorate brings together a property portfolio including Prisons, Probation, and MoJ HQ and Arm's Length Bodies.
MoJ Property provides specialist services including facilities management, health and safety, fire safety and security, technical design expertise, and sustainability. We also have business management teams who support the entire Directorate and each of our partners is supported by account management teams. We are responsible for a great deal - our portfolio consists of properties valued at 9.3bn for the MoJ alone. We are part of the Government Property Profession (GPP) and through active membership and engagement we will work with the Office of Government Property to develop the maturity of the profession and encourage our people to join the GPP. We continue to build our capability through training and recruitment, aspiring to be the best that we can be as individuals and as a directorate.
We continue to deliver new ways of working across our portfolio leading on the scale and pace of activity for central government proposing ways to achieve, and then providing more dynamic and flexible workspace, while driving down the cost of the estate.
Team Overview
The People and Change team sits within the Property Transformation Programme, which is part of the MOJ Property Directorate. The team leads in the implementation of the People Strategy, identifying resource and capability gaps, and in the production and delivery of any necessary training across HMPPS and MoJ HQ functions, providing consistency in the approach of raising capability and professionalisation with BAU directorate teams. It is responsible for leading the change management process, adherence to the relevant policies relating to the change process including; job evaluation, weighting and conducting Impact Assessments for MoJ staff and facilitating change management workshops.
Job Description, Duties and Responsibilities
The Training Facilitator is responsible for developing and delivering engaging and effective training sessions that support staff capability and performance. This role ensures learners gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to meet PTP capability objectives.
- Work collaboratively with subject matter experts (SMEs) and colleagues at all levels across the programme and organisation in the design (using detail and information provided by SMEs) and delivery of evidence-based, learner-centred learning resources and experiences.
- Work collaboratively with subject matter experts to update learning in response to outputs from quality assurance reviews, user feedback, and continuous improvement audits.
- Deliver and facilitate engaging, interactive, training modules to a range of audiences, both via MS Team and at in person events.
- Adapt training delivery to meet different learning styles
- Support in the practical organisation of training events.
- Work with subject matter experts and team colleagues to develop and deliver a consistent and high-quality suite of training products.
- Assess learner understanding and provide feedback, using this and general feedback to adapt and improve training.
- Track and report on attendance and learner understanding outcomes
- Provide post training support/follow up sessions where needed.
- Be a strong advocate for learning, taking responsibility for own continuous
professional development.
- Some national travel will be required.
Skills and Experience
Essential
Experience of successfully developing training products and facilitating training across a range of complex subject areas.
Excellent communications skills with the ability to:
Explain complex and or difficult concepts or ideas (verbally and in writing).
Confidently adapt communication styles to connect with a range of audiences.
Excellent collaboration skills, establishing and developing productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong understanding of learning theory and methodologies.
Active listening and coaching skills.
Highly Desirable
Experience of managing/delivering change and an understanding of managing resistance to change.
Qualifications and Accreditation
Government Property Profession (GPP)
This role sits within the MoJ Property Directorate and is part of the Government Property Function aligned with the Government Property Profession.
The GPP Framework is aimed at staff working in property or property-related roles and consider property to be their career anchor profession. This usually encompasses posts where professional qualifications and experience are directly relevant to the work being undertaken. However, it is also applicable to those who are currently not qualified property practitioners but wish to make this their profession of choice. Those with a property background at any level are encouraged to register with the GPP, which exists to support property practitioners at all levels.
