Job Description
The strategic waste management team have an opening for a Waste Project Officer. If you are interested in community engagement, are an excellent communicator, have an interest in the environment and working as part of a team, this could be the ideal role for you.
WHAT IS INVOLVED?
We are looking for an enthusiastic, well organised individual who has excellent presentation skills and the ability to work flexibly. The role will be a varied one and will help to support the work of Strategic Waste Management Team.
You will help deliver the key waste hierarchy messages relating to the Resources and Waste Strategy for England, 2018 at a local level in County Durham and implement the aims of the Waste Prevention Programme for England by focussing on the reduction of key material streams such as electrical items, textiles, furniture, food, plastics and single use items.
You will identify and implement waste management related projects across County Durham with particular emphasis on waste prevention, reuse, recycling and composting activities. You will promote and deliver these projects through countywide communications, community engagement and education activities by arranging and undertaking roadshows/awareness events and liaising with key partners such as schools, community groups, local networks, residents' associations and independent groups.

WHAT WILL I NEED?
• Experience of working in the waste management sector.
• Delivery of waste management related projects and campaigns.
- HND/HNC or equivalent in a related discipline
- Essential skills and abilities include:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Excellent IT and presentation skills
- Excellent project and time management skillsIf successful,
