Job Description
Role / Job Title: Pitch Assessor
Hours Per Week: up to 32 hours a week
Pay: £120 per day plus travel expenses of 55p per mile.
About the organisation:
FMG Consulting is a consultancy specialising in sport, leisure and active wellbeing.
One of our core workstreams is the production of Playing Pitch Strategies (PPS) which assess the supply and demand of outdoor sports facilities in a given local authority area. These strategies provide strategic recommendations for local authorities and National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of sport to ensure facilities are protected and investment into grassroots sports provision is efficiently allocated.
About the Role:
Key Responsibilities:
We are looking for Pitch Assessor(s), ideally with an interest in grassroots sport, to carry out non-technical assessments at specified sites for multiple Playing Pitch Strategies that we have been commissioned to complete across the Midlands.
A non-technical assessment involves carrying out a visual inspection of each pitch/facility, any ancillary provision at a site and completion of a short proforma spreadsheet assessing the quality of the facilities available.
You will be expected to visit up to 10 sites per day depending on the number of pitches at any given site and the travel times between sites. Once you have completed the site assessments you will be expected to email the completed spreadsheet back within 5 working days, containing all the relevant information gathered. Training and guidance will be provided on the process before you complete any site visits.
The window for site assessments to be completed would be November - December for winter sports (football, rugby union, hockey etc.) and June - July for summer sports (cricket, bowls, tennis etc.). Assessments for each season would need to be completed within the specified site assessment window and will need to be completed during the day, predominantly Monday to Friday. It is therefore essential that you are available at these times and that you have access to your own transport.
Person Specification / Eligibility Criteria:
- Knowledge of grassroots sports
- Full driving licence with access to own vehicle
- Ability to demonstrate that the vehicle has a valid MOT, is in a good roadworthy condition and is insured for Business use
- Access to a mobile device with mobile data connection in order to complete the site assessment spreadsheet on-site
