Job Description Summary:
We are looking for an individual who would like to join our team as an Activity Organiser on a permanent basis for 24 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
Our service aim to provide meaningful activities that provide enjoyment and personal fulfilment whilst encouraging inclusion, promoting independence and expanding the individual's interests and skills.
We work in a person-centred way with our people with learning and or physical/sensory disability so that their needs are consistently met in a sensitive way, whilst being flexible and adaptable to their individual's needs and aspirations.
You will creatively plan, organise, lead and participate in activities. Promoting participation from the people who access our services. You will need a positive mindset, excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
You will be required to have experience of caring for people with a learning and/or physical disability, have enthusiasm and the ability to motivate others.
We are looking for individuals with a real passion for supporting others and ensuring the people who access our services get the best they can out of their time with us.
It is essential that you already hold a literacy and numeracy qualification at GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent.
Basic first aid or the ability to achieve within 6 months is also required.
Experience working with those with who require positive behaviour support and have complex needs is also desirable.
Current hours of work are Monday to Friday during the day however you must be prepared to be flexible for any evening activities.

ROLE AND PURPOSE
To contribute effectively to the emotional, physical and social well-being of vulnerable adults who are participating in day activities
To discover what is important to the customer and help them participate in interesting activities and to help identify mainstream opportunities for them to engage with
To help meet their assessed needs in the day service in accordance with departmental and statutory requirements
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. To promote and safeguard the welfare of vulnerable adults
2. To provide direct support, guidance, supervision and care to customers in accordance to their personal assessment and agreed support plan on an individual or group basis
3. To provide personal care as designated in the personal plan and to promote independence and self-direction at all times whilst promoting dignity, privacy and showing respect. To meet physical needs including toileting, washing, feeding and other personal care tasks. To administer medication in line with the universal medication policy if this is a requirement of the plan following agreed policy and procedures
4. To participate in the identification of needs and follow guidance and instruction of senior staff including health colleagues where necessary
5. To assist with the management of behaviour, to contribute to and implement agreed behaviour management plans and risk assessments under supervision of senior staff
6. To work closely with customers, their families and other professionals to ensure consistency and to maximise the effectiveness of the personal support plan and to review the plan on a regular basis
7. To maintain departmental records, undertake admin functions as required to ensure the accuracy of record keeping, to share the information in a professional manner and to maintain confidentiality as required. To assist service users with financial transactions such as dinner monies, to collect monies from clients eg for payments for activities or meals and to assist senior staff with financial transactions such as shopping for activities. To lock or unlock buildings/rooms in the absence of senior staff or ancillary staff who normally undertake this task
8. To devise and implement interesting programmes of activity for people with a range of different disabilities
9. Cook and serve meals, light snacks and drinks taking into account dietary and feeding requirements and to complete appropriate records relating to food handling and stock control
10. The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated legislation places responsibilities for health and safety on Hull City Council, as your employer and you as an employee of the council. In addition to the Councils overall duties, the post holder has personal responsibility for their own health safety and that of other employees; additional and more specific responsibilities are identified in the Council's Corporate HS policy.
