Teaching Assistant 2b EYFS (Reception Class) Oswaldtwistle Hippings Methodist Primary School are seeking to appoint a calm, dedicated, enthusiastic and caring Teaching Assistant who is willing to up hold our Christian ethos and join our wonderful, hardworking and supportive staff team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping children achieve their full potential and who can provide high quality support. They should have a good knowledge of the Foundation Stage Curriculum, continuous provision and of Phonics. Contract Details: Position: Teaching Assistant TA2b Start Date: 1st September 2026 Hours: 32.5 per week Working hours: Mon to Fri Term Time 8.30 until 3.30(half an hour lunch) Contract: Permanent Term time only Salary: TA 2b Please note that in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025, an online search will be carried out as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates. This position is part time, term time only, please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent. If successful, the salary received will be paid on a pro –rata basis. A full enhanced DBS certificate will be required.
  • Applicants must hold a recognised Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Candidates should also demonstrate strong Literacy and numeracy skills and have a good understanding of supporting teaching and learning within a primary school setting, in particular in EYFS
  • A commitment to safeguarding, promoting pupil wellbeing and supporting the Christian ethos of the school is essential.
  • A recognised qualification in Paediatric First Aid would be desirable for this role.
  • Additional training or qualifications linked to supporting children with special educational needs, behaviour support or intervention programmes would also be advantageous.
  • Evidence of continued professional development relevant to primary education would be welcomed.
  • The successful candidate will have experience of working with primary-aged children, preferably within EYFS (Reception Class)
  • They must be confident supporting pupils in English and Mathematics and able to work effectively under the direction of the class teacher.
  • Candidates should demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Experience of supporting pupils within EYFS across a range of abilities and needs would be beneficial.
  • Previous experience of working within a Breakfast Club or similar childcare provision is desirable.
  • Experience of supporting pupils with SEND, delivering small-group interventions in English and Mathematics, supporting pupil wellbeing and promoting positive behaviour for learning would also be advantageous.
