  • About the scheme

From our strong farming roots, NFU Mutual has grown into a major UK-wide insurance and financial services organisation. We're proud of where we came from, and excited about where we're heading next.

Today, we're growing in areas such as commercial and high-net-worth insurance. Our Sales team plays a key role in this by building strong relationships with customers, local businesses and communities across the UK.

On this scheme, you'll build your commercial knowledge, gain practical experience in insurance sales and play a direct part in shaping our future growth.

You'll join one of our regional teams, working closely with local NFU Mutual branches to help businesses grow, build strong customer relationships and deliver a personal service. You'll learn how trusted relationships help NFU Mutual succeed.

Along the way, you'll gain valuable experience, grow your confidence and develop the skills needed for a successful career in insurance sales.

Please note this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship as it does not fulfil the criteria set by the Home Office. This is a three-year programme. Candidates must have, or be able to obtain, permission to work in the UK in a way that enables them to undertake the role and complete the programme.

If you need any adjustments during the recruitment process, please let us know. We'll work with you to understand what support would help you perform at your best.

Please apply as soon as you can. If we receive enough applications, we may close this vacancy early.

    What you can expect

Although our graduates are based across the UK, you'll still be part of one team. You'll join our national graduate group and meet regularly at our Head Office in Stratford-upon-Avon for shared training and development. This gives you the chance to build strong connections with other graduates. You'll also work on regional projects and placements linked to your area.

We'll support your career development throughout the scheme with a structured plan, performance reviews twice a year, and the potential for competitive salary increases and progression.

The Insurance Sales Scheme focuses on corporate leadership, strategy and business growth. Throughout the programme, you'll develop your knowledge of commercial and high-net-worth insurance while working on projects that support growth across your region. Each project is carefully selected to broaden your technical expertise, expand your network across the business and give you the opportunity to take ownership of initiatives that deliver meaningful outcomes.

As part of a busy regional team, you'll be involved in high-profile work and gain first-hand experience of how we build and maintain strong relationships with key business partners.

    Application Process

If your application is shortlisted, there are three stages:

  • Online assessment - to help us understand how you learn and solve problems.
  • Video interview - a short interview to learn more about you.
  • Assessment centre - an in-person day where you'll take part in activities such as a group exercise, a role-specific task and a skills-based interview.
  • The assessment centres will be held in our Regional offices or locations-

  • North East Scheme- Tuesday 1st December 2026 in York
  • South East/London Scheme - Wednesday 2nd December 2026 in London
  • South West Scheme -Monday 7th December 2026 in Bristol
  • East & Midlands Scheme - Tuesday 8th December 2026 in Stratford Upon Avon.
  • Your future

These schemes are designed to help you build your core insurance skills and work towards CII qualifications. We'll support you to gain the knowledge and experience you need for a successful career.

You'll be supported by experienced colleagues, a dedicated buddy and a mentor who will help you maximise your development and career opportunities. You'll also be part of a strong graduate community, with opportunities to connect with current and former graduates, build your network and learn from others on similar schemes.

These schemes can lead to a wide range of roles across NFU Mutual. As you come towards the end of the scheme, a careers coach will help you think about your next role and plan your next steps.

It's not all about work either. We encourage our graduates to get involved in extracurricular activities, from volunteering and organising charity or social events to representing NFU Mutual at industry events, all in line with our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) framework.

    What we're looking for

    Qualifications and skills

You'll need to have achieved, or be on track for, at least a 2:2 degree. We welcome applications from any degree background.

We're interested in your passion for learning, curiosity and your potential.

To help you succeed on the scheme, you'll bring:

  • Analytical thinking and problem solving - able to interpret information, identify patterns and draw meaningful conclusions.

  • Communication and interpersonal skills - building trust with others and communicating clearly with customers, colleagues and stakeholders
  • If you can bring these qualities, we can help you develop the rest.

    Work experience

Industry experience or a placement year would be a real advantage, but it isn't essential. What matters most is that you've had some experience of work where you've been able to interact with people, build your communication skills and learn how to work well with others.

    Travel requirements

For all regional schemes, you can expect to spend three to four days a week travelling across your region, dividing your time between NFU Mutual agencies, regional offices and our Head Office in Stratford-upon-Avon. Your remaining time will usually be spent working from home.

To be eligible for this scheme, you must have a full UK driving licence.

At NFU Mutual, we support an inclusive workplace and value all the differences that make us unique. We celebrate the creativity and innovation that comes from diverse perspectives and experiences and share a common vision of doing the right thing for our customers and employees.

We recognise that some candidates may experience barriers during the recruitment process. So, we encourage candidates to discuss any adjustments or accommodations they need to be the best they can be throughout our recruitment process.
