Job Description
Prudential Governance Consultant
About the role
We are looking for a Prudential Governance Consultant to join our second line Prudential Compliance team within the Risk Division.
You will play a central role in managing NFU Mutual's relationship with the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), helping to ensure regulatory engagement is well-coordinated, transparent and effective. Working across regulatory policy, risk management and business strategy, you will support the business in responding confidently to an evolving regulatory environment.
Operating in a highly regulated and closely scrutinised environment, you will be responsible for delivering clear, accurate and high-quality outputs critical to supporting NFU Mutual's regulatory reputation and senior decision-making.
In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining a strong and effective relationship with the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), managing day-to-day communications in a professional, transparent and well-controlled manner. You will oversee all regulatory submissions, including formal notifications, regulatory returns and ad hoc information requests, ensuring outputs are accurate, compliant and delivered to agreed timescales. Alongside this, you will monitor and interpret regulatory developments impacting the insurance industry and NFU Mutual Group, translating these into clear, practical insights to support informed business decision-making.
You will be responsible for producing high-quality written materials, including formal regulatory communications, executive briefings and Board-level papers, ensuring clarity and consistency across all outputs. In addition, you will track and report on regulatory commitments, maintaining oversight of agreed actions to ensure timely and effective delivery. Maintaining accurate and auditable records of all regulatory interactions will be essential, supporting robust governance, reporting and audit requirements across the organisation.
About you
You are a strong communicator who builds trusted relationships across the business and delivers high-quality outputs for internal stakeholders. You understand stakeholder needs and provide clear, well-judged advice that supports effective decision-making.
You are able to distil complex regulatory and technical information into clear, practical insight tailored to a range of audiences, including senior executives, Board members and regulators. Your written outputs are well-structured, accurate and delivered to a consistently high standard. You help stakeholders understand what matters, why it matters, and what action is needed.
You exercise sound judgement in a complex and evolving regulatory environment, knowing when to challenge, when to escalate, and how to present issues in a balanced and practical way.
You bring a proactive and analytical mindset, identifying risks, implications and emerging issues, and translating these into clear, actionable advice.
You are highly organised and detail-oriented, with a strong personal commitment to quality. You manage competing priorities effectively while maintaining accuracy and focus in a fast-paced environment.
You are comfortable working independently while contributing as part of a collaborative team. You remain composed under pressure and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
