Job summary

North Clacton Medical Practice are keen to welcome an experienced advanced nurse practitioner working on a full-time basis to work across two of our sites. The working hours would be between 8am to 6pm.

Main duties of the job

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Undertaking health assessments, administering medication and treatments, and performing diagnostic tests.
  • Providing and evaluating a range of health interventions to ensure that patients health and social care needs are met.
  • General health and well-being promotion as well as creating individual, person-centred plans for patients with, or at risk of, a long term condition.
  • As an independent prescriber, prescribing safe, appropriate and effective medication as defined by current legislation framework.
  • Managing and treating long-term conditions, in line with national and local policies and the practice needs.
  • Reviewing medication for therapeutic effectiveness, in accordance with evidence-based practice as well as national and practice protocols; working with patients to support their adherence to prescribed treatments.
  • Prioritising health problems and intervening appropriately, to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
  • Supporting and managing the health needs of women presenting for sexual health and contraception
  • Hypertension review and management.
  • Assessment and management of minor illness.
  • Assessment and review of pathology results.

North Clacton Medical Group is a GP practice in Clacton-On-Sea, looking after 11,000 patients across two sites. We pride ourselves on being a family-orientated practice and valuing work life balance. We have an on-site gym which staff can use.

Person Specification

All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience:

Essential

  • A relevant nursing degree.
  • Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
  • Prescribing qualification.
  • 2 years experience minimum working within a similar role.
  • Competence to undertake asthma, COPD and diabetic clinics and reviews, holding relevant certificates.
  • Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing and wound care, and recording spirometry.
  • Compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work. The successful candidate will value the dignity of our patients, their relatives and carers, as well as their colleagues at the practice.
  • Knowledge, and experience of its application, in supporting long-term conditions.
  • Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the wider NHS.
