Advanced Theatre Practitioner - Scrub

Vacancies in ENT/Max Fax and Orthopeadics

Band 6 (37.5 hours per week)

Croydon University Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic ,caring and motivated individual to join the Theatre team as a Theatre Practitioner.

We are looking for experienced scrub practitioner in ENT/Max fax and orthopaedics.

Demonstrate a commitment to developing yourself and support the various teams. You will act as a role model for others, promoting best practice and delivery of high quality , patient centred care.

Working in Theatre ,you will be rotated through the different specialties , including Emergency ,Trauma Orthopaedic, to ensure excellent patient care is maintained throughout the patient's pathway.Recovery staff will be working in elective,emergency and external areas such as IR, Endoscopy etc.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be part of the clinical team who ensure that clinical care of patients, and others using the services receive an efficient and quality service.

  • prepare the clinical areas (theatre) to receive patient for surgical procedures .
  • Provide scrub assistance to surgeon during surgical procedure.
  • Assist in patient positioning
  • Ensure all documentation on IT system is accurately imputed into the system accordance with Trust and departmental policy and procedures .
  • Uniform code
  • Maintaining a clean working environment .
  • Mentoring and assessing juniors
  • In charge of daily theatre list
  • PDR of juniors
  • teaching and supervising

Education /Qualification

Essential

  • Registered Nurse/ODP
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • UK Recognized registration
  • Theatre course /Experience

Desirable

  • Intravenous therapy qualiciation
  • leadership course
  • Professional Nurse Advocacy course

Experience

Essential

  • Number of year experience in scrubbing and leading the team in all different field
  • Demonstrate up dated clinical knowledge in acute setting
  • Able to use own initiative in communicating difficult issues

Desirable

  • Ability to prioritize workload
  • Ability to supervise and motivate others

Skill/Knowledge

Essential

  • IT Skills
  • Able to manage difficult situation eg Complex Airway management
  • Able to take on more responsibilities
  • Able to meet the demanding workload
  • Communicate Both Oral/Written

Desirable

  • Experience in supervising/supporting junior Scrub team
  • Leadership or managment experience
  • Infection control audit
