Main duties of the job

This 15month apprenticeship is a fantastic first step into a rewarding healthcare career, giving you the chance to learn, grow and make a real difference to patients and their families. Youll be part of a supportive team, developing handson clinical skills while working towards a nationally recognised qualification. While we encourage fulltime applications, we will also consider parttime working with a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week. As part of the role, youll work a variety of shifts alongside regular study days, helping you balance learning with practical experience. Core Eligibility Criteria Age: 18 years old or older. Residency: Must be living in England and hold the right to work in the UK. You must provide proof of your right to work in the UK for the entire duration of the programme. Have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years or more. Education Status: Cannot be in full-time education at the start of the apprenticeship. Previous Training: You cannot use government funding for an apprenticeship in a subject you have already achieved. You should not have significant knowledge obtained through: An academic setting (e.g, an undergraduate degree, a Level 2 Health qualification).

What you will bring to the role

You'll bring compassion, empathy and a genuine desire to support patients, along with the motivation to learn and grow throughout the apprenticeship. You don't need previous experience - just a willingness to learn, a positive attitude and the confidence to ask questions as you grow. Being reliable, patient and respectful will help you settle into the team, and your natural ability to communicate with others will make a real difference to the patients you meet. Most importantly, you'll bring curiosity, compassion and the motivation to develop new skills at a pace that feels manageable and supported.

As an Apprentice Clinical Support worker at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, you'll learn how to provide patients with essential care, helping them with washing, dressing, eating, moving around or using the toilet. Over the 15 month programme. you'll make our patients time here more comfortable and will become a valued part of the nursing team. Spending most of your time on a single ward or clinical area, you'll work with doctors and nurses, observing things like blood pressures and changes to weight and temperature. It's about giving you experience to equip you for whatever comes your way. This role requires you to work and study at the same time. There will also be coursework and practical assessments so you can demonstrate your learning.
