Band 4 Trainee Nursing Associate's/Assistant Practioner - Annex 21
An exciting opportunity has arisen on Maple A we are recruiting 1 trainee nursing associate.
Here you will be a part of an enthusiastic team, caring for a multitude of patients and conditions who require care and treatment. You will use your clinical skills to support the nursing team and medical teams with a variety of tasks across the unit.
We are a medical ward caring for patients with a range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
Main duties of the job
- Manage and provide all aspects of patient care.
- Act in accordance with the NMC code of professional conduct.
- Assist other nurses in the team as necessary.
- Demonstrate practice based on current advances in nursing practice and research.
- Comply with infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
- Comply with responsibility to safeguard adults and children, ensuring attendance at appropriate training.
- Maintain accurate records of the care given, ensuring accurate data input into computerised systems.
- Assist in developing an environment that supports the value of nursing care.
- Liaise and communicate with members of the nursing and multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in the monitoring of standards of care.
- Contribute to the continuing development of the unit philosophy.
- Participate in the Trust clinical governance agenda, leading on a benchmark from the Essence of Care initiative.
- Ensure that the Trust policies and guidelines relevant to the unit are given due consideration.
- Actively participate in the Trust risk management strategy.
- Contribute to the Trust patient care and public involvement strategy.
- Participate in local bed management for appropriate patient care.

Qualifications
Essential
- GCSEs Grade A-C in Maths and English or functional skills level 2 in Maths and English (must have proof of qualification)
- Care Certificate
Desirable
- Qualifications and Credit Framework Level 3 in Care or equivalent in terms of both academic attainment and previous care experience
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Previous experience of working within a health / care setting
- Understanding of the importance of the promotion of health and well-being (Making Every Contact Count)
- Understanding of the NMC Code of conduct and how it applies to the Nursing Associate role
- Continuing professional development with portfolio.
- Equality issues.
- Equality legislation and best practice.
Desirable
- Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development
- Understanding of evidence based practice
- Completion of an HCA development programme Understanding of basic physiology, e.g. normal vital signs, fluid balance and nutritional requirements etc.
- Evidence of recent work based learning or self directed learning
Skills and Aptitudes
Essential
- Demonstrable ability to study at Level 5 Diploma of Higher Education Level and commit to completing the Foundation Degree Evidence of involvement in support / development of less experienced staff programme and one of the following to demonstrate a minimum of achievement of 48 UCAS points
- Ability to work effectively as a team player under appropriate supervision, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate
- Intermediate IT skills
- Ability to communicate with members of the public and health and care providers
