Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen, to join the operational management team in the Respiratory Medicine and Infectious Diseases services, within the Integrated Medicine Division. The post is based at Ealing Hospital on a fixed term to cover maternity leave.

Working closely with the General Manager and Service Manager you will be supporting the specialist services covering outpatient, diagnostic, 2ww and day-care services, as well as supporting the management of doctors and other clinical staff as required. This is a varied role which will enable you to develop management skills including capacity planning, problem solving, negotiation skills and relationship management.

Main duties of the job

  • Manage personal workload to meet both corporate and personal deadlines
  • Manage staff and delegate appropriate tasks, ensuring competence of the staff
  • Undertake capacity and demand exercises in order to best plan and deliver services
  • Investigate and respond to PALS, DATIX and Complaints and implement changes, highlighted as part of the learning cycle
  • Facilitate collaborative working between all stakeholders inside and outside of the Directorate.
  • Support the development of collaborative partnerships and effective working relationships with clinical staff, managers and members of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) creating an environment within which all staff have an opportunity to become closely involved, or have genuine opportunity to influence and improve, the management, planning and development of services.
  • Identify changes required to deliver the service and actively implement these changes with the support of the Service Manager
  • Seek to work with a "problem solving approach" in order to identify solutions to challenges in the service.
  • Produce, monitor and deliver Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and attend meetings as required.
  • Robust staff management for admin and clinical staff, including rota management, sickness absence and performance management
  • Analyse outcome measures and activity data relating to service performance in our 18 weeks pathways, 2ww cancer targets, Length of Stay, Elective Recovery Plan activity and DM01

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educational achievement to degree level equivalent or significant relevant managerial experience in NHS or similar setting

Desirable

  • Leadership Qualification

Knowledge

Essential

  • Previous operational and staff management knowledge ? Working knowledge of Cerner ? Experience of producing regular comprehensive reports.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of NHS financial monitoring

Skills

Essential

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. ? Ability to build relationships with a wide range of staff groups and key stakeholders. ? Ability to negotiate and influence staff. ? Ability to deduce key points from large/complex volumes of numerical and other data.
