Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHBFT) is seeking to recruit to the permanent post of Senior Financial Management Accountant (Band 5) on a full-time basis (37.5hrs).

The Research & Development Finance Team at UHBFT are looking for an ambitious, highly motivated, professional individual who thrives on a challenge. Experience within an NHS financial management environment is desirable. The ability to work in a team, meet deadlines and have good communication skills is paramount for this role. Experience of MS Office packages and working with computerised ledger systems is also required for this role.

You will work as part of a team offering tailored financial business support to a number of research specialties on a daily basis. The role will involve providing financial management advice and budgetary support to the R&D Management Team, Research Application Support Team, and to Birmingham Health Partners who lead the new Institute of Translational Medicine (ITM). You will also be involved in grant costing, grant finance management, forecasting, advising budget holders based within the Trust and outside organisations, budget setting and month end. You will assist with offering tailored financial business support to R&D budget holders on a daily basis including assisting with grant costings and grant management.

The post is based at Regents Court, George Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham B15 1NU and you will be required to travel across sites at certain points. The salary scale is Band 5 32,073 - 34,592 per annum.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Five Grade GCSEs at Grade 4 or above (or
  • A to C pre 2019 grading) including Maths
  • & English.

Desirable

  • Demonstrate good progress towards a CCAB
  • Qualification (e.g. ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA) or
  • significant relevant experience

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in Management
  • Accounts
  • * Good Understanding of management
  • accounting concepts and techniques

Desirable

  • Experience preferably within the NHS or
  • another large complex organisation, for long
  • enough to have acquired a good working
  • knowledge of the annual cycle from financial
  • planning through to year end forecasting and
