Shift Pattern: 8:00pm to Midnight
We are seeking a motivated, friendly and flexible Bank Housekeeper to join our dedicated Housekeeping Team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous housekeeping, domestic or cleaning experience who takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and infection prevention within a healthcare environment.
Bank vacancies are not contracted to fixed hours; instead, they allow you to pick shifts that align with your availability. However, we are particularly looking for those that would like to be available to cover our later shifts. Our Bank workers enable HMT to managing fluctuating demand, such as covering staff absences, busy periods, or unexpected workload increases whilst offering you the flexibility pick up shifts as available.
As a Bank Housekeeper, you will play a vital role in ensuring our hospitals remain clean, safe and welcoming for patients, visitors and colleagues. Working as part of a supportive team, you will help deliver exceptional standards of cleanliness while adhering to Infection Prevention and Control procedures and the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness (2021).
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for:
- Cleaning and preparing clinical and non-clinical areas in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Undertaking deep cleaning duties following Functional Risk Ratings and National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness (2021).
- Ensuring all areas are clean, tidy, safe and pleasant for patients, visitors and staff.
- Carrying out regular toilet and washroom checks to maintain high standards.
- Using cleaning products, materials and equipment safely and effectively.
- Following Health & Safety, COSHH, Infection Prevention and Control, and Fire Safety procedures at all times.
- Correctly preparing, using, cleaning and storing housekeeping equipment and materials.
- Reporting any incidents that have led, or may lead, to infection risks.
- Replenishing consumable supplies including hand soap, hand sanitiser, toilet rolls and paper towels.
- Restocking linen cupboards and housekeeping stores.
- Ordering and receiving housekeeping and laundry stock when required.
- Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to the Maintenance Department.
- Completing daily, weekly and quarterly cleaning schedules and maintaining accurate records and sign-off documentation.
- Providing assistance with special functions and additional housekeeping duties as required.
- Promoting a high standard of customer service through courteous and professional communication with patients, relatives and colleagues.
- Supporting the wider team with a flexible approach to duties and working hours to meet service needs.
