Job summary
The Brokerage Officer is part of the Adult Social Care Contract Management & Market Shaping service, which plays a critical role in ensuring people with care and support needs are matched with safe, appropriate, and valueformoney care and support. The Brokerage service works closely with social work teams, providers, and commissioning colleagues to support timely placements, manage system pressures, and uphold statutory duties across Cambridgeshire. In this role, you will carry out personcentred brokerage activity, implementing agreed processes to source and coordinate care and support that meets individual needs while managing risk, cost, and quality. You will work within clearly defined procedures, ensuring placements are made safely and efficiently, records are accurate, and issues are identified and escalated appropriately. By resolving the majority of queries at first point of contact, monitoring your own compliance, and contributing to continuous improvement of brokerage processes, the Brokerage Officer helps reduce delays, maintain service flow, protect public funds, and improve experiences for people using services. You will implement and report back on assigned tasks for the Authority, adhering to set processes to ensure that brokerage services are delivered safely and efficiently. They will be responsible for following all instructions and procedures to manage risk and secure value for money. You will monitor their own activities for compliance and accuracy, raising any risks or concerns with their supervisor or manager. They will maintain careful records and contribute to the effective operation of the team. You will also be required to participate in reviews and discussions to help improve brokerage processes, promote safe practice, and achieve service priorities through consistent and accurate reporting and you will deputise for their immediate manager from time to time.
Main duties of the job
You will have previous experience of working across organisations in joint working arrangements including significant experience of public sector placement finding. You will have familiarity with contract management, compliance, risk assessment and performance monitoring, a proven record of participating in brokerage systems changes, programmes from planning through delivery with measurable results, delivering improved outcomes and sustainable markets. You will also have some experience in risk governance, market stewardship, and the management of provider/market failure.
