As we continue to grow, develop our services and strengthen our partnerships across the health system, we are looking for an experienced and delivery-focused leader to join our Care Directorate. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys turning plans into reality. Working directly with the Director of Clinical Services and alongside operational leads, you will provide hands-on leadership across multiple programmes and projects, helping to ensure that service developments are implemented safely, effectively and with families at the centre.

This is not a traditional project management role. We are looking for someone who understands healthcare, can navigate complexity and has the ability to maintain momentum and deliver change within busy clinical environments.

Main duties of the job

Key Programme Areas

Service Expansion and Transformation Coordinate delivery of major service developments and transformation programmes across the Care Directorate during a period of organisational growth and system integration.

Clinical Pathways and Care Coordination Coordinate implementation of integrated pathways, MDT working and coordinated models of care across hospice, community and hospital services.

Operational Delivery and Programme Oversight Maintain oversight of concurrent workstreams, supporting delivery against agreed priorities, tracking progress, risks and operational dependencies.

Governance, Quality and Compliance Support implementation of governance, quality improvement and regulatory priorities including CQC readiness, operational assurance and policy implementation.

Digital Systems and Service Development Support implementation of digital systems, reporting and service improvement initiatives.

Family Experience, Access and Equity Support programmes focused on improving family engagement, equitable access and responsiveness of services.

Job responsibilities

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Delivery and Programme Coordination

Lead programme delivery across multiple complex Care workstreams, ensuring implementation against agreed priorities, timescales, governance requirements and operational objectives

Maintain oversight of progress, dependencies, risks and operational impacts across concurrent workstreams

Support workstreams to move from planning into implementation and embedded practice, working alongside operational leads to maintain delivery momentum.

Provide implementation oversight and assurance reporting to senior leadership regarding delivery progress, risks, dependencies and operational impact.

Support the operational delivery of strategic service developments and transformation initiatives across the Care Directorate.

Operational Coordination

Coordinate implementation activity across Care teams including nursing, therapies, family support and operations.

Work closely with Heads and Leads to maintain momentum and resolve operational challenges.

The role will work within existing operational and clinical leadership structures, supporting delivery while operational accountability remains with the relevant service leads

Develop and maintain effective working relationships across internal and external stakeholders to maintain alignment, delivery momentum and operational coordination.

Implementation and Service Development

Lead the implementation of new and expanded services and projects across Care

Support operational readiness across workforce, processes and systems to enable safe implementation

Monitor and report progress against agreed priorities, actions and KPIs.

Contribute to continuous service improvement, change management and embedding of new models of care.

Risk Management and Escalation

Identify risks, delays and capacity gaps impacting delivery

Escalate risks, delays or barriers in a timely and structured way to Care Leads, Head of Clinical Services and Quality, and Director of Clinical Services

Coordinate mitigation planning and recovery action plans in collaboration with operational leads to maintain safe and effective service delivery.

Data and Reporting

Use operational data to track delivery, highlight risks and support decision-making

Ensure data collection aligns with agreed KPIs and service priorities

Prepare and contribute to reporting for internal governance and senior leadership as required

Governance and Quality

Support implementation of service developments in line with organisational governance, safety and quality standards

Contribute to maintaining safe, effective and well-led services during expansion

  • Experience of managing competing operational priorities within complex care environments
  • Experience of risk management, governance and operational assurance processes
  • Ability to analyse operational data and translate this into delivery planning and service improvement actions
  • Demonstrable ability to work autonomously and exercise professional judgement

Desirable

  • Experience in childrens services, palliative care or community health

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in nursing or healthcare
