Job summary

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to assist in the delivery of a comprehensive administrative service to support nursing staff within the Breast department.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Clerical Administration Assistant based at UHNM , Breast Care Department for both Stoke and County site. The role is to support the BCN team and the Breast Navigators to provide an efficient, comprehensive service. You will ensure that patients are supported efficiently throughout their pathway.
The Post holder will be responsible for the administration of nurse led clinics and day case lists which includes booking of appointments, preparation of nursing notes and patient information packs, booking in and out of clinics and running day case lists.
The post holder will also be responsible for coordinating the BCN Teams contribution to the twice weekly Breast MDT meetings to ensure cancer targets are maintained.
The BCN team can receive up to 25 helpline calls per day from patients, carers and professionals. The post holder will be directly interacting with patients on a daily basis both face to face and triaging helpline calls and providing appropriate responses to simple enquiries.
The post holder will also be responsible for communicating information, both written and verbal with patients, staff and carers, and this will require tact and diplomacy.

Essential
- Good general education to include GCSE or equivalent in English and Mathematics
Desirable
- NVQ2/RSA2 word processing or equivalent
Experience
Essential
- Experience and knowledge of using Microsoft Packages - Word, Excel and Outlook
- Experience of telephone communication with a wide range of individuals and organisations
- Experience of working with patients and/or customers
Desirable
- Relevant experience in a similar administrative role within the NHS
- Experience of working with CareFlow, iPortal and Choose and Book
- Experience of working in an Acute Trust
Knowledge and Skills
