We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist interested in developing their experience of working with people with acquired brain injury and neurological conditions. We are recruiting a full-time, permanent Band 7 post within the Ealing Clinical Neuropsychology Service.
The post is a split role working across our community neurological rehabilitation team and our inpatient neurorehabilitation unit at Clayponds Hospital, offering a varied and rewarding opportunity to work across different stages of neurorehabilitation. The Ealing Clinical Neuropsychology Service sits within the wider Clinical Health and Neuropsychology Service, providing specialist neuropsychology and clinical health psychology services across the London Borough of Ealing.
We are looking for someone with a strong interest in neurorehabilitation and developing specialist skills in neuropsychological assessment, formulation and intervention with people with acquired brain injury and neurological conditions. Some experience of neuropsychological rehabilitation or working with neurological populations is desirable.
Main duties of the job
Alongside senior psychology colleagues, the post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary neurorehabilitation team including occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech and language therapists.
The role involves providing neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation for people with neurological conditions, alongside psychological support for families and carers. This will include cognitive rehabilitation, psychological intervention to support emotional adjustment and engagement in rehabilitation, behavioural interventions, consultation, teaching and multidisciplinary working.
The post holder will also contribute to the development and facilitation of group interventions, delivered both in person and online.
In line with service need and considering staff skills and interests where possible, the role will involve working across both the community neurorehabilitation service and the Level 3 inpatient neurorehabilitation unit, offering a varied and rewarding opportunity to work across different stages of rehabilitation.

Qualifications
Essential
- Post-graduate, doctoral level training in clinical psychology, or its equivalent, leading to eligibility for Chartered Status by the British Psychological Society.
- Current registration as a Clinical Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working with a wide range of patients presenting with complex psychological and emotional needs, including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the context of highly emotive and distressing situations
- Experience of the application of clinical psychology assessment, intervention and outcome measures with patients with neurological conditions.
- Experience of working effectively within multidisciplinary teams and contributing psychological perspectives to shared care planning
Desirable
- Experience of working within a neurological rehabilitation setting
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Doctoral level knowledge of clinical psychology, including lifespan developmental psychology, models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, formulation and intervention, adapted to individual need
- Well-developed communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to communicate complex or clinically sensitive information to patients, families, carers and professional colleagues
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
- Knowledge of recent government policy and legislation relevant to neuropsychological rehabilitation (e.g. NSF for Long Term Conditions, NICE Guidelines for Stroke)
- Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology

- Knowledge and experience of at least two evidence-based psychological therapy models relevant to neurorehabilitation
