Job Overview

The CAMHS Young Peoples Team (YPT) is a specialist service supporting young people with moderate to severe mental illness. We are seeking a Band 7 Community Psychiatric Nurse or Mental Health Practitioner for 37.5 hours per week on a 12-month secondment or fixed-term basis.

You will provide trauma-informed assessment and care for young people, including those who are looked after, adopted, or homeless. Acting as a central point for complex referrals, you will deliver consultations with carers and professionals, complete risk assessments, and develop care plans to support recovery and stabilisation.

The role includes supporting transitions for 17+ young people into adult services, delivering training to large groups, and ensuring content aligns with current research. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, carers, and local authorities, demonstrating strong communication and record-keeping skills.

A non-medical prescribing qualification is desirable but not essential. Applicants must demonstrate experience working with complex mental health needs and risk.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is required. Internal applicants must have line manager approval.

To be flexible and able to provide care across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland - a driving license and access to a car with relevant insurance is required for this post.
