Job summary
Required to fill this replacement post within the General Paediatrics department at the Leeds General Infirmary. The successful applicant should possess MB BS and MRCPC (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the . In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register. Applicants should have established skills in General Paediatrics and its related specialties including. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a new enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our existing group of consultants who are all highly motivated and committed to developing excellent services for patients. The expectations of all members of the multi-disciplinary team are high. The team consists of consultants with various specialist interests, including immunology and infectious diseases, respiratory, nephrology, eating disorders and secondary epilepsy. The role will include acute work in the Childrens Assessment and Treatment unit (CAT) and on the Childrens inpatient wards, as well as outpatient work in the form of general paediatric clinics. We welcome applicants who have a specialist interest in any paediatric subspecialty and there are opportunities to discuss and establish this in the post. The role has a vast mixture of secondary and tertiary paediatrics supporting an extensive array of other tertiary specialists across Leeds Childrens Hospital.

Leeds Children's Hospital caters to every paediatric sub-specialty under one roof. It also has close links with the adult hospital, within the same building, which enables smooth transition of care from paediatrics to adults.
The team is developing exciting new pathways to make the department more efficient, improve patient experience as well as providing an excellent experience to resident doctors in training. Over the years there has been a significant overhaul of the workforce, and this has now resulted in the appointments of qualified advanced nurse practitioners, trainee ANPs, specialty doctors, and physician associates, who complement the resident doctor workforce.
