Job summary

We are looking to appoint to a whole time (10 PA) Consultant Radionuclide Radiologist to the Dermatology department at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We would welcome applications from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well-established careers.

Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will, together with Consultant colleagues, be responsible for the provision of clinical oversight, ARSAC and reporting services to Nuclear Medicine and PET for STH, CRH, SCH and external sites including the University of Sheffield owned PET-MR and the PET-CT service run by Alliance Medical Ltd at the Sheffield PET Centre.

In addition, the successful candidate will be required to contribute to the general radiology workload at STH. The successful candidate will work flexibly and co-operatively with other members of the team in order to provide a high quality, comprehensive service within this teaching hospital environment. The successful candidate will work according to the terms and conditions of the national consultant contract.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full registration (with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Name on the specialist register for radiology specialty or eligible within 6 months of the date of the interview. If an applicant is UK trained, they must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
  • FRCR or equivalent

Desirable

  • MD or PhD or equivalent

Clinical experience

Essential

  • Ability to work as an independent practitioner having completed a minimum of 5 years training in clinical radiology.
  • Completion of subspecialty training in radionuclide imaging and PET as required for application to ARSAC for licensing for a wide range of diagnostic NM and PET
  • The ability to independently undertake general CT and ultrasound work to support the workload of the department and on call

Desirable

  • Non FDG PET serials and Neuro PET experience

Research

Essential

  • Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate.

Desirable

  • Publications in Peer reviewed journals.

Teaching and training

Essential

  • Experience of teaching medical students and resident doctors.

Continuous Professional Development

Essential

  • Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months

Desirable

  • Maintenance of a CPD diary or portfolio

Management and Administration

Essential

  • Evidence of the understanding of the systems and structures of NHS Management

Clinical governance and audit

Essential

  • Experience in performing clinical audit.

  • Completion and publication of a substantive audit project or service improvement project

  • Demonstrates behaviour consistent with PROUD values
  • Good written communication skills
