Job summary
Reporting to the Dispensary Manager, or the Deputy Dispensary Manager, the primary aim of the role is to ensure that all appropriately authorised prescriptions are dealt with in accordance with the principles of good practice, whilst maintaining the highest standards within the Dispensary and as a part of the Practice Team.
Main duties of the job
To ensure that all medicines and appliances are dispensed according to Standard Operating procedures, laws and Regulations using the surgeries computer system Dispense-It and the Nomad System. Whenever there is any doubt about the appropriateness of the prescribed item to check with the authorizing Doctor or Duty Doctor.
To place daily orders with appropriate Mainline Wholesalers within the morning and afternoon cut off times allowing prompt delivery maintaining stock levels to avoid inappropriate to follows
To enter all stock onto the computer system on receipt of delivery recording QUANTITIES, PRICES, BATCH NUMBERS AND EXPIRY DATES .This is to be done either via the computer stock screen or by adding manually onto the computer system
To follow up with Wholesalers and or directly with Manufacturers when drugs become unavailable and inform GPs if an alternative need to be arranged with as little inconvenience or disruption to the patient as is possible.
To issue Repeat Prescriptions, manage tasks, letters , emails, ,telephone and face to face enquires according to Practice Procedures
To deliver Nomad patients medications when appropriate following the Practice Procedures

Beechfield Medical Centre is a well-established and highly regarded GP practice based in the heart of the Lincolnshire market town of Spalding, operating from modern purpose built premises. We are looking to appoint several new team members as we look to develop and enhance the services we are able to offer to our nearly 21,500 patients.
Job responsibilities
To ensure that all medicines and appliances are dispensed according to Standard Operating procedures, laws and Regulations using the surgeries computer system and the Nomad System. Whenever there is any doubt about the appropriateness of the prescribed item to check with the authorizing Doctor or Duty Doctor.
To store all dispensed medications appropriately for each patient and according to the manufacturers instructions and laws
To collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration and the reverse of the FP10 is correctly filled in and signed.
To ensure all monies received or handled on behalf of the Practice are stored and recorded appropriately.
To endorse all prescription forms where appropriate to ensure correct payment by the PPD.
To file all invoices in the correct folder and forward any relevant correspondence to the Finance Manager.
To operate efficient stock control appropriate to the needs of the Practice with the objective to ensure continuity of patient supply and minimizing wastage due to out of date stock.

To check and maintain the stock in individually allocated Doctors Bag where appropriate and according to Practice Procedure.
To place Generic drug orders with the appropriate Short liner on a day to day basis achieving the best available price for required items.
To ensure that all Dispensary equipment, shelving, work surfaces are cleaned and tidied to maintain a high level of hygiene and kept in good working order.
To issue Repeat Prescriptions, manage tasks, emails, ,telephone and face to face enquires according to Practice Procedures
To maintain a high level of professionalism and politeness at all times and refer any concerns or incidents to the Dispensary or Practice Manager
To maintain Professional Development and Competencies required with DSQS.
To deliver Nomad patients medications when appropriate following the Practice Procedures
