Job Description

Job summary

Join University Hospitals of Derby and Burton as our Divisional Finance and Information Manager within the Cancer, Diagnostics and Clinical Services (CDCS) Division.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated leader to join our friendly and inclusive team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping future service delivery, influencing decision-making, and helping the organisation respond to the challenges of an ever-changing and complex financial environment.

Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, you will work closely with colleagues across four other divisions and be a key member of the CDCS Finance Team, which consists of 11 staff. You will also contribute to the wider Corporate Finance function, supporting the delivery of high-quality financial and information services across the Trust.

The CDCS Division manages a budget of £237 million and employs approximately 3,500 staff across seven business units, offering a broad and diverse portfolio with significant opportunities to influence both operational and financial performance.

The CDCS Division at UHDB is a diverse and dynamic division, delivering urgent and emergency, elective and non-elective care across multiple hospital sites and two Integrated Care Boards (ICBs). This breadth of services provides a rewarding environment in which to develop your career, build strong partnerships, and make a meaningful contribution to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Main duties of the job

You will lead a team of Business Unit Accountants and Management Accountants in delivering a high-quality financial service to leaders and managers across the Division. This will include all aspects of financial management, providing expert financial advice and support to business units and budget holders, and working collaboratively with the wider Corporate Finance team to resolve complex and often challenging financial issues.

A key part of the role will be overseeing the production of accurate and timely monthly financial and performance reports, including forecasts. This will require strong analytical skills, commercial awareness, and effective engagement with budget holders to ensure robust financial planning, informed decision-making, and the delivery of agreed objectives. Your ability to communicate financial information clearly and influence stakeholders will be essential in driving performance and supporting future management actions.

Improving efficiency and ensuring value for money remain central to the Trust's long-term financial strategy. As a senior member of the finance team, you will play an important role in helping the Division meet these challenges. Through your understanding of the operational and financial issues facing the Division, you will help identify opportunities, support service transformation, and contribute to the delivery of sustainable, high-quality healthcare services.
