Job summary
As a Domestic Assistant at Halstead Hospital, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, welcoming and patient-focused environment. Working closely with the Team Leader, colleagues and clinical teams, you will contribute to the smooth running of the hospital by delivering high standards of domestic, cleaning and catering services.
Above all, you will be an important part of the hospital team, helping to create an environment where patients feel safe, cared for and respected, while ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety and service are maintained.
Main duties of the job
Working as part of a supportive team, you will combine high standards of domestic cleaning with patient-focused catering and hospitality duties.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out routine, specific and deep-cleaning duties across wards and departments in line with hospital cleaning guidelines, infection prevention standards and organisational procedures.
- Keeping the health, wellbeing, dignity and comfort of patients at the heart of everything you do, communicating with patients in a friendly and respectful manner.
- Supporting the hospital's catering service by receiving cook/freeze food deliveries, checking quantities and ensuring food is stored safely
- Taking patients' meal orders while carefully considering allergies, dietary requirements and textured meals.

Person Specification
Education
Essential
- oGCSE grade C or above in English and Maths or equivalent qualification. oNVQ Level 3 in Admin/RSA 3. City and Guild certificate or equivalent level of experience
- Work Related Knowledge and Experience
Desirable
- Full UK Driving licence or ability to travel between locations
- Knowledge of the NHS
Experience in a similar role
Essential
- 1 year experience in a similar role

- Food hygiene certificate or cleaning certificate
