Job summary

We are seeking motivated and reliable individuals to join the Domestic Services Team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

The Domestic Services Department plays a crucial role in supporting patient care by providing a high-quality cleaning service across wards, clinical departments, and communal areas throughout the Trust. The team is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness are consistently achieved.

This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the delivery of excellent healthcare services by supporting infection prevention and enhancing the patient experience.

We have 3 vacancies for 22.5 hours each working:

Monday to Friday

9:00am till 14:00pm

Bank Holiday working is required

The successful candidate will be committed to delivering high standards of work, demonstrate attention to detail, and be able to work effectively as part of a team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety throughout the hospital.

  • Deliver a high-quality cleaning service across wards, departments, and communal areas, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety.
  • Clean designated areas in accordance with approved cleaning methods, NHS National Cleaning Standards, and agreed cleaning frequencies.
  • Work in line with daily schedules as directed by the Domestic Services Supervisor or Line Manager.
  • Safely operate mechanical and electrical cleaning equipment following appropriate training and ensure equipment is cleaned and stored correctly after use.
  • Support infection prevention and control by adhering to the National Colour Coding System and relevant cleaning protocols.
  • Ensure cleaning cupboards are kept secure and maintain responsibility for issued keys.
  • Comply with mandatory training requirements and all policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
  • Report accidents, incidents, hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Treat patients, visitors, and colleagues with dignity, respect, and professionalism at all times.
  • Undertake specialist and enhanced cleaning tasks, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Respond to cleaning audit findings and complete required actions within agreed timescales.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade and responsibilities of the role as requested by line management.

Qualifications and Training

Experience
