Van driver and support for our NHS dedicated outreach clinic van .

This is an opportunity for anyone who wishes to get out and about South Yorkshire, Bassetlaw and North Derbyshire for 2 days a week to take and assist Nurses on our clinic van . Patient communication is involved, alongside some basic data collection.

Main duties of the job

  • The collection of outreach van from RHH site and transporting to agreed sites across South Yorkshire, Bassetlaw and North Derbyshire based on the outreach rota and return to base at the end of the session.
  • Ensure the van is stocked with relevant consumables, resources and equipment to deliver the 'test and treat' service. This will include blood taking consumables and equipment (GeneXpert System), incentive vouchers, portable fibro scanner, PPE equipment.
  • The return and secure storage of consumables, resources and equipment at the end of the session.
  • Provide clinical/clerical support, to HCV outreach team where required. Taking dried blood spot/capillary samples from patients, and helping document, record and safeguard patients details and information.
  • Support with setting up and clearing away clinical working area prior to and after each clinical activity and support with cleaning and maintaining safe clinical working environment.
  • Understand clinical speciality (hepatitis C) to level that enables peer like support in understanding and engaging with clients to improve uptake and engagement with services (on job training provided by STH/HCV trust)
  • Collection and delivery of samples to RHH site for processing.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of nine months (9) due to the post being recruited as part of a limited term project within the Trust. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the requirement for the post to be maintained as a part of the project's implementation and the timescales associated with this.

Please note all existing NHS staff will only be considered on a secondment basis. This must first be agreed with your current line manager.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE grade D or above (or equivalent) to include English and Maths

Desirable

  • Customer Care Training

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of driving commercial vehicles
  • Previous experience of delivery duties using commercial vehicles

Desirable

  • Previous experience of reversing large trailers
  • Working within a team

Further Training

Desirable

  • Moving and Handling; Health and Safety; Customer Care; Willing to undertake further training; Dried Blood Spot Testing

Special Skills/Aptitudes

Essential

  • Ability to use initiative.
  • Professional approach at all times when dealing with a variety of people and situations.

Essential

  • Full manual driving licence. Licences issued after 1.1.97 will need the following categories in addition to standard licence: B+E, categories C1 and D1
