Job summary

Band 2 Environmental Cleaner.

Working in all areas of the hospital, cleaning to a high standard inline with the national cleaning standards, the successful applicant would be required to work off site locally situated and would be required to work unsociable hours and weekends.

Main duties of the job

Cleaning in all areas of the Hospital where required and completing all high and low level cleaning, replenishing stock, machine cleaning floors and cleaning sanitary areas.

To support and deliver a full Patient Environment cleaning service. Delivering an enhanced patient experience and support the Trust in providing a cohesive, cost effective, efficient and fully compliant Environmental Cleanliness service.

To maintain the standards set out in the National Clearing Standards and improving compliance with the Patient Led Assessments of the Care Environment. To be able to work on your own initiative with the support and guidance of the Housekeeper Coordinators(s).

Qualifications and training

Essential

  • Good standard of Education and the English Language - no specific qualification

Desirable

  • Hold or working towards an accredited "Environmental cleaning qualification or the ability to achieve within 6 months of taking up post

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Engages in effective communication with patients, relatives, visitors and colleagues
  • Able to make judgements on routine cleaning issues

Desirable

  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment and colour coding

Experience

Essential

  • Enjoys working as part of a team
  • Knowledge of NHS National Specification of Cleaning Standards, COSHH ((Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Patient Led Assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE)
