Job summary
An Estates Officer Entry Level post plays a key role in the Estates Engineering Maintenance Services. The individual will support the Estates Officers and maintenance team in the delivery of maintenance programmes that will contribute to the Trusts objectives in a safe, cost-effective, efficient manner and compliant with legislation, Health Technical Memorandums (HTM) and good practice.
This is a mobile biased role which provides multi-skilled maintenance support across the Trust's estate, delivering responsive and planned maintenance to clinical and non-clinical buildings. The role ensures the safe functioning of building services by carrying out electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and general fabric tasks. The postholder travels between sites, prioritising work to support patient safety, operational continuity, and statutory compliance.
The post holder will undertake works relating to the maintenance and repairs to Trust properties, equipment, grounds & Gardens ensuring compliance with Statutory requirements, HTM's, Trust Policies and procedures to ensure a clean, safe and functional environment for patients, the public and staff to support the delivery of patient care.
The post holder will be a member of a small group of managerial/technical staff who manage and operate complex technical systems and processes across the Trust, ensuring compliance with Trust standards, procedures and legislation.
Main duties of the job
Travel between hospital and community sites as required.
Prioritise workload based on urgency, site need, and Estates Manager direction.
Ensure vehicle, tools, and equipment are maintained and safe for use.
To plan and organise operational maintenance for the estates maintenance team under the guidance of the Estates Officers relating to engineering and building service needs to comply with statutory and mandatory requirements.

Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.
The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).

Person Specification
Qualifications (Academic, Professional & Vocational)
Essential
- A good standard of education.
- BTec Level 4 HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline, or equivalent portfolio of technical built environment engineering services courses through recognised providers and associated work-based projects/work.
- Completed recognised Apprenticeship with relevant experience gained over a number of years
Desirable
- Specialist technical training in plant, infrastructure and building services.
- Additional Hospital Engineering related certified training
Previous Experience (Nature & Level)
Essential
- A number of years within a maintenance environment demonstrating basic level of understanding of Estates delivery and maintenance.
- Aware of Health & Safety issues Experienced in working in a demanding customer driven service.
- Experienced in working to deadlines.
- Demonstrable experience of making judgements on estates and maintenance issues taking into account legislation and H&S.
- Use of fine tools and equipment.
Desirable
- Management of contractors and consultants with disciplinary team in Healthcare premises.
- Experience of working in a large organisation.
- Experienced in issuing permits to work.
Evidence of Knowledge, Skills and Aptitude
Essential
- Able to drive and have a valid full UK driving licence or applicable UK approved driving licence.
- Knowledge of Estates service delivery, operational maintenance and procedures/processes.
- Able to diagnose faults in complicated engineering and building plant and equipment.
- Able to work safely and have a sound knowledge of Health and Safety legislation in the built environment.
- Review maintenance policies and practices in light of regulatory changes.

- Knowledge of statutory maintenance and inspections for plant and building services.
- Ability to work at all levels from Management Executive to front line maintenance tradesman.
