Job summary
Are you a motivated leader with a passion for creating safe, welcoming environments that make a real difference to patient care?
As a Facilities Team Leader, you will play a vital role in ensuring hospital wards and departments operate smoothly by leading catering, cleaning, laundry and portering services.
This is an opportunity to combine people management, operational leadership and customer-focused service delivery in a role where your work directly supports patients, colleagues and visitors every day. You'll lead a dedicated facilities team, drive high standards across multiple services, and help create an environment where exceptional care can thrive.
This is a varied and rewarding position where no two days are the same. You'll have the opportunity to influence service standards, support your team's development and make a meaningful contribution to the patient experience through the delivery of high-quality facilities services.
If you're an experienced supervisor or team leader with a background in facilities, catering, cleaning or hospitality services and you're looking for a role where your leadership can make a genuine impact, we'd love to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
You will take responsibility for the daily management of facilities operations, ensuring patients receive high-quality services while supporting clinical teams to provide outstanding care. From managing cleaning schedules and catering provision to overseeing laundry services and coordinating staff deployment, you will ensure every aspect of the service runs effectively and efficiently.
A key part of your role will be leading and developing your team. You'll provide guidance, coaching and support, conduct appraisals and one-to-one meetings, manage attendance, and help ensure colleagues have the skills and training they need to succeed. Your leadership will help create a positive culture focused on quality, professionalism and continuous improvement.
Working in partnership with Facilities Managers, matrons, ward managers and other stakeholders, you will help maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, infection prevention requirements, national cleaning standards and food safety guidelines. You will also carry out audits, monitor performance data and implement improvements that enhance service quality and patient experience.
The role requires excellent organisational and communication skills, as you'll regularly coordinate staffing, manage competing priorities, respond to operational issues and liaise with a wide range of internal and external partners. You'll use your initiative to make informed decisions, solve problems and ensure services remain responsive to changing demands.
