We have an exciting opportunity for aGeneral Practitionerto join ourhealthcareteam atHMP Kirkham in Lancashire.HMP Kirkham is one of the largest category D prisons in England supporting around 700 men who are nearing the end of their sentences and participating in education and work placements to support with integration back into the community.
Within this role you will be working closely with our multidisciplinary including an ANP and NMP to deliver high quality healthcare and prescribing services. Within this role you will work with patients who have a range of needs including long term condition, substance misuse and acute physical and mental health.
Hours
1 day/ 8 hours per week, to be worked between Monday to FridaySalary
This position is part time,you'll receive an annual salary between£103,600 and £124,320per annum FTE- depending onexperience.

Main duties of the job
Our General Practitioners are extremely valued and are well respected members of the Prison Healthcare community, as a General Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will
- Deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, and therefore as a General Practitioner at Practice Plus Group you get the opportunity to further develop your knowledge in areas you wouldnt usually experience within a practice, or even A&E environment.
- Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patients requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.

Requirements
- MBChB or MBBS
- Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
- Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
- Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
- RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
Job responsibilities
As a GP you will respond to medical problems presented by patients including diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referral as appropriate in line with guidelines and pathways. Including prescribing for patients, regularly review medications and monitor repeat prescriptions.
You will;
Provide medical leadership and expert advice, regarding medical and primary care issues to the wider healthcare team; engaging with the Practice Plus Group wellbeing approach
Deliver effective patient care developing high levels of communication with patients; identifying and utilising evidence based best practice through benchmarking and clinical guidelines. Undertaking appropriate clinical audit to improve clinical outcomes
Inspire and develop positive collaborative working relationships across the multidisciplinary team; working with the wider team to ensure effective clinical governance is incorporated into day to day practice
Promotemultidisciplinary discussions around complex case management, ensuring systems and processes in place for managing results, letters, and tasks. Undertake clinical risk assessments and implement management strategies for risks
Share and disseminate acquired knowledge with all team members through development sessions and clinical governance meetings or clinical case reviews
