Main duties of the job
We are seeking a warm, enthusiastic Head Housekeeper to join our award-winning team at Braintree Mews Care Home. As a Head Housekeeper, your main responsibility includes overseeing the housekeeping and laundry services to support hospitality functions and ensure a high standard of care is delivered to residents. You will carry out all cleaning duties and coordinate with the Home Manager for cleaning materials, ensuring stock levels and quality products are within the budget. You will monitor cleanliness standards, supervise the team, provide instructions, and demonstrate cleaning tasks to new staff. Candidates must embody caring, supportive, honest, respectful, and accountable values in all actions.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Your focus as Head Housekeeper will be to oversee the housekeeping and laundry cleaning service in support of the hospitality services function to ensure a high-quality and comprehensive care service is delivered to residents.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out all cleaning duties as per the housekeeping job description.
- Preparing orders for Home Manager approval for all cleaning materials with approved suppliers whilst complying with procedures to maintain appropriate stock levels and control and ensuring good quality products are purchased within agreed budget limits.
- Monitoring standards of work of the housekeeping and laundry team to always maintain high cleanliness standards.
- Supervising and directing the work of the housekeeping team, providing instruction and demonstration to new staff on cleaning tasks and materials.

- Demonstrate the ability to lead, supervise and develop teams.

Qualifications
Essential
- Experience in cleaning and managing laundry in public settings is essential. Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including moving and handling techniques, fire safety, and COSHH assessments is required. Candidates should demonstrate compassion and commitment to high-quality housekeeping and laundry services. Leadership, supervision, and team development skills are necessary.
