Job summary

The Day Surgery Centre (DSC) provides dedicated day surgery facilities for adult patients through a suite of 10 Operating Theatres, Recovery, Pre/Post-operative Care and Pre-Assessment.

As a Housekeeper the post holder will coordinate all Hotel Services on the unit and will work as part of the Day Surgery Centre team to facilitate seamless service delivery and ensure that a clean, safe and comfortable environment is maintained.

The successful applicant will work closely alongside the existing DSC Housekeeper and other facilities/departments/support services so excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team is a must. They will also have autonomy in the ordering of stores, the reporting of faults and the initiation of works as required ensuring safe and smooth running of the DSC.

The post holder will attend necessary meetings, feeding back relevant information, action within own scope and share responsibilities with Senior staff to enable them to delegate to the appropriate person.

Main duties of the job

A significant aspect of the role is effective stock ordering and rotation. Ensuring that equipment and facilities are maintained as well as managing an effective cleaning and maintenance regime for the environment including medical equipment used within the department. Knowledge of working in a care environment would be an advantage but not essential.

Academic qualifications are not essential but you will be expected to complete the National Care Certificate. You should possess excellent team working and communication qualities (both written and verbal) plus competent IT skills as most stock ordering is done electronically.

Full training and support will be provided.
