Job summary
We are seeking a qualified Independent Prescriber to deliver clinical and prescribing services within our Criminal Justice drug and alcohol service at Forward Leeds - Armley Court.
You will provide evidence-based treatment, including prescribing (including controlled drugs), clinical assessments, and recovery-focused care across hub and outreach settings. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, youll support individuals with complex needs, ensuring safe, effective and person-centred interventions in line with national guidance and clinical governance standards.

Job responsibilities
Undertake clinical assessments and prescribe in line with best practice.
Develop and review person-centred care plans.
Deliver BBV testing, immunisation (including Hep B) and harm reduction interventions.
Liaise with pharmacists and GPs to support shared care arrangements.
Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to audit and governance processes.
Participate in CPD, supervision and service improvement activities.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- First level registered nurse or registered pharmacist
- Independent Prescriber qualified.
- RCGP Qualifications Level 1 (and 2 or willingness to work towards)
Knowledge/Previous Experience
Essential
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook Office programmes
- Experience of entering complex information onto an electronic / clinical data base.
- Experience in delivering evidence based treatments in Substance Misuse.
- Previous experience of carrying out general health care assessment including BBV, and delivering health promotion/ harm reduction interventions, advice and information.
- Awareness of social context of drug misuse and the wider implications of the behaviour.
- Understanding of complexities of primary health care and the constrictions and opportunities inherent in the primary care sector.
- Awareness and experience of the principles of Audit.
- Understanding of drug misuse services available in the public and voluntary services.
- Awareness of national strategies impacting on drug and alcohol services and role of Independent Prescriber.
- Understanding of the differences between the private and the public sector roles and responsibilities.
