We now seek an additional Laundry Assistant who is passionate about, and thrives on, making a real and positive difference to the lives of older people. Working in collaboration and unison with the Housekeeper and the wider domestic team you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, efficient running of all laundry processes in the home. This will include giving your undivided attention and care to all items for laundering, performing minor repairs to the residents personal items of clothing whilst being respectful and supportive of individual and differing needs. Continually and compassionately assess all aspects of residents laundry requirements and provide dedicated and individualised attention if / when required.

Main duties of the job

The role of Laundry Assistant at Akari Care is designed for individuals passionate about elder care and aiming to make a real difference in residents' lives. The key responsibilities include collaborating with the Housekeeper and domestic team to ensure smooth laundry operations, attending to every laundering item with care, and conducting minor repairs on personal clothing. The position requires awareness and respect for individual residents' religious and cultural backgrounds. This job provides a competitive salary, uniform, DBS check costs, and 28 days annual leave on a full-time basis. Development through training and flexible working patterns are also offered.

Working in collaboration and unison with the Housekeeper and the wider domestic team you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, efficient running of all laundry processes in the home. This will include giving your undivided attention and care to all items for laundering, performing minor repairs to the residents personal items of clothing whilst being respectful and supportive of individual and differing needs. Methodically ensure that the laundry room is permanently clean and tidy, and that all equipment is clean and well maintained alongside imparting your knowledge to all other colleagues to ensure they adhere to the same high standards.

Whilst you will be involved in all the practical duties you would expect in a busy care home laundry environment it is important to be mindful of and conscious to individual religious and cultural backgrounds. To be continuously aware of how these needs might impact our residents alongside making sure they all feel that they have a personalised service.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience working in similar environments and specific laundry experience. Traits such as a caring nature, flexibility, resilience, and a respectful persona are essential.
