Main duties of the job
As a Laundry Assistant at Avery Healthcare's Lady Jane Court Care Home in Leicester, you will be responsible for supporting the Head Housekeeper in offering a comprehensive laundering service. This includes carrying out all laundering duties, understanding the laundering requirements for various textiles, and ensuring proper maintenance and presentation of these items. You will practice safe systems of work across various tasks, primarily focusing on moving and handling loads safely while assessing risks. In addition, the role requires contributing fully to teamwork by responding positively to colleagues and ensuring prompt action on reasonable work instructions. The position requires a DBS Disclosure check, with the cost covered by Avery Healthcare, and proof of eligibility to work in the UK.

Your focus as Laundry Assistant will be to supportthe Head Housekeeper in providing a laundering service insupportof the hospitality services function, ensuring a high-quality and comprehensive care service is delivered to residents.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Carryingout all laundering duties.
- Understanding wash guide instructions, laundering requirements of a wide range of textiles and the properties of cleaning materials to ensure that all areas are well presented and maintained in good condition.
- Practicing safe systems of work across various tasks, particularly moving and handling loads, by assessing risk and considering personal safety and the safety of residents, visitors, and staff.
- Contributing fully to teamwork, responding positively to colleagues, and promptly acting on all reasonable work instructions.

Essential
- Demonstrate understanding of laundering requirements for various textiles, experience in a similar setting or hotel, positive attitude towards residents, compassion and commitment to laundry service delivery.
