Job summary

Waterside Medical Centre is a well established 'outstanding' rated NHS GP Practice conveniently located in the centre of Leamington Spa.

We are looking for a medical receptionist / care coordinator to join our friendly team for 16 hours a week including a Friday.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the general administrative and reception duties within the Practice and work with our established processes, policies and procedures to provide a comprehensive high-quality service and deal efficiently and courteously with patient enquiries.

Your regular duties in this role will be dealing with telephone, face to face and electronic enquiries, booking and/or amending patient appointments and home visits, contacting patients to provide information from the clinical team and assisting patients to access our services and those available in the wider community.

Hours of work for reception staff are 7:30am-6:30pm Monday to Friday with Saturday and evening overtime available.

Job responsibilities

The main duties of this role include:

  • Contributing to the day to day running of reception.
  • Booking Appointments for Patients.
  • Greeting Patients as they arrive in Reception.
  • Monitoring and Directing Patient flow throughout the surgery..
  • Scanning of Patients correspondence, Hospital letters, reports etc. ensuring medical records are kept up to date.
  • Preparation of repeat prescriptions including digital systems and ensuring these are signed and checked by the Doctor.
  • Transferring phones to appropriate people as required.
  • Attending courses, practice meetings etc. as required.
  • Maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Any other duties as may be required by Practice Manager or Doctor.
  • Use of email for corresponding with practice teams and other agencies.
  • Distribution of mail.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
  • Reception training

Desirable

  • A-levels
  • Undergraduate degree

Experience

Essential

  • Working within an administration or reception role
  • Experience of patients or customers

Desirable

  • Experience of working in primary care
  • Experience of working in a GP practice
