Job summary

The renal service provides patient care across 6 kidney care centres across Greater Manchester based in Salford, Bolton, Wigan, Oldham, Rochdale and Fairfield.An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen to join our medical secretarial team to provide high quality administrative and PA support to multiple renal consultants and their clinical teams. We are looking for enthusiastic, highly motivated individuals with relevant experience to join our high performing and successful team.

This post will provide you with an exciting challenge and give you the opportunity to play a key-supporting role in a rapidly growing service.

Main duties of the job

You must possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to work both as part of a team and on your own initiative. You will be able to organise and prioritise your own workload and balance this with the demands of a busy, diverse and varied role. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, RSA II or equivalent typing, excellent audio typing skills, waiting list management, medical terminology, proven organisational skills, 18 week (RTT) standards and a strong commitment to personal and professional development is desired.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • RSA II and above or equivalent

Desirable

  • Qualification in medical secretarial studies
  • ECDL

Knowledge

Essential

  • A good understanding of Microsoft Office and Outlook, audio typing experience
  • Good all round secretarial knowledge of all office practice and procedures

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the Trust's current Information Technology systems (e.g. Medisec, iSOFT, PAS).

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to organise work independently and adapt to changing priorities
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
