Are you an experienced Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who is a Non-Medical Prescriber who would like the opportunity to be part of a developing and innovative integrated Community Mental Health Service?

Are you looking for an opportunity to be part of a service that is working in partnership with local services to meet the needs of those presenting with complex mental health needs together.

Telford and Wrekin Community Mental Health Service provide assessment and evidence-based interventions for people who presenting with complex mental health difficulties that are significantly impacting on their daily life alongside our partner organisations.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Band 7 Mental Health Nurse Practitioner / Non-Medical Prescriber within our service for a fixed term period of 7 months.

We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated individual who is a registered non-medical prescriber (NMP) with experience ideally of working within a community setting. As a registered professional, you will be committed to providing a high-quality service and will support to improve service user access to care and treatment.

Ideally you will have experience with working with service users with a range of mental health diagnosis / formulations. You will be working as an autonomous prescriber and will effectively manage a dedicated caseload.

Main duties of the job

You will work predominantly work with service users who are registered within the South East and Teldoc PCN areas in the Telford and Wrekin area as a non-medical prescriber working autonomously on completing assessments and reviews for service users deemed appropriate for this service.

You will carry out assessments, reviews and associated prescribing for service users following agreed practice guidelines as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to provide care coordination.

You will carry out reviews of service users who are having medication prescribed in primary care and need an annual review for this to continue.

You will be responsible for the development, implementation and review of care planning and risk management.

You will deliver a high-quality clinical service to Service Users, their Families and Carers in the Community.

You will demonstrate an attitude which respects the core values of the organisation and the principles of Recovery.

Qualifications

Essential

  • A qualified/registered mental health nurse plus diploma level equivalent qualification in sphere of professional practice
  • Additional specialist training, Non-Medical prescribing V300
  • Evidence of professional updating and development within mental health services
  • Mentorship Course

Desirable

  • Leadership Course
  • Specialist training

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with more complex and challenging needs
  • Significant demonstrable experience of delivering therapeutic interventions to clients within a mental health setting
  • Experience of working with a range of statutory, non-statutory agencies
  • Evidence of experience in education of nurses and / or multi-professional groups

Desirable

  • Experience of working therapeutically in community setting
  • Experience of supervising junior staff

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of various approaches to mental health assessment
  • Knowledge of therapeutic approaches appropriate to use with complex and challenging needs in mental health care
  • Knowledge/awareness of relevant legislation and guidance including The Mental Health Act (1983), Community Care Act (1990), Human Rights Act (1998), National Service Framework and Clinical Governance, Capacity Act, Safeguarding policies
  • Knowledge/experience of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
