Job summary
Practice Education Facilitator, full time 37.5 hours per week.Band 6 £39,959 - £48,117 per annumThe Practice Education Facilitator works closely with the Practice Education Lead and the Director of Nursing and Quality to ensure high-quality educational environments within the Trust. This involves:
- Collaboration with Local Services: Engaging with local services to provide valuable learning experiences for all students and learners.
- Focus on Global Majority Staff and Students: Enhancing the learning experience for global majority staff and students.
The role includes supporting a wide range of individuals, including:
- Student Nurses, Allied Professionals, and Support Workers: Providing both remote and face-to-face support.
- Educators and Assessors: Assisting those who supervise students by developing action plans and making reasonable adjustments for struggling students.
- Train and Support Preceptees and Preceptors: Conducting drop-in sessions in practice areas to offer additional support and guidance
The Practice Education Facilitator is expected to be:
- Friendly and Approachable: Building effective relationships and running events.
- Organized and Effective: Demonstrating passion for ensuring all members, especially those from the global majority, have a voice in shaping and improving Trust services
Main duties of the job
- Identification and Evaluation: Regularly review and assess practice learning environments to ensure they meet quality assurance standards. Use feedback from students and staff to identify areas for improvement.
- Quality Assurance: Implement a robust framework for continuous quality improvement, including regular audits and feedback loops.
- Development and Support: Offer training programs and resources to supervisors and assessors to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Supervision Structures: Establish clear supervision and support structures to ensure consistent and effective practice education.
- Collaboration with HEIs: Work closely with Higher Education Institutions to align practice learning opportunities with academic requirements.
- Service Staff Engagement: Engage service staff in the planning and delivery of practice learning to maximize student support.
- Inclusive Opportunities: Develop initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion within practice education and career development.
- Positive Learning Experiences: Create a supportive and inclusive environment that enhances student learning and workforce satisfaction.
- Links with Freedom to Speak Up Guardian: Maintain open communication channels to address concerns and promote a culture of transparency.
- Networks and Relationships: Foster strong relationships with managers, assessors, and educational institutions to support practice education.

Job responsibilities
We are looking for a qualified nurse with a passion for teaching and sharing knowledge, to work as a Practice Education Facilitator within the Practice Education Team. We are looking to appoint a friendly, approachable and experienced nurse, who is organised and effective at building relationships and facilitating learning opportunities and events. A passion for education and development whilst promoting diversity and inclusion is essential to ensure our learners have a voice in shaping and improving practice placements experiences.
You will work with all students, learners and practice educators / practice assessors / supervisors to ensure quality practice learning experiences / opportunities with consideration and action on evaluation feedback. Experience of supporting and assessing students in practice and being an active assessor and preceptor currently is vital. Good understanding and working knowledge of the NMC Code of Practice and Standards for supporting student supervision and assessment and NHS Englands Preceptorship framework for nursing is essential.
Throughout the year we employee newly registered practitioners, in this role you will work with the Trust Preceptorship Lead to support preceptees transition and preceptors preparation. As part of your role, you will develop and deliver on the Trusts preceptorship programme, experience of facilitation and teaching is desirable, but you will be supported to develop these skills on the job You will be a role model and mentor in practice for our preceptees. You will deliver action learning sets and act on feedback and evaluations received for ongoing improvement in our preceptorship programme.
This role will provide an excellent opportunity for you to build on existing experience, skills and knowledge of working in a leadership role, influencing the quality of practice placements and assessments undertaken within them areas. You will have ongoing support and guidance from the Practice Education Lead and the team.
