Practice Nurse

Job summary
We are looking to recruit a caring and motivated Practice Nurse who is committed to patient care and willing to further develop our dedicated nursing team. We are ideally looking for a Nurse with a very strong background in Diabetes care and General Practice Nursing.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our other Practice Nurses and HCA to treat our patients, maintain systems including infection control to meet CQC requirements and influence and implement policy and change in the Practice.
This is a part-time position of 34 hours per week, across four days. Salary is competitive, depending on experience, with access to NHS pension scheme.
Main duties of the job
As part of our nursing team you will be required to adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice
- Provide nursing advice and be a resource of best practice for the team
- Assess, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate clinical work carried out to ensure effective care delivery in partnership with patients/carers. Promote and advise on healthy lifestyles
- Treatment room duties in line with competency e.g Suture/clip removal, Basic & complex wound care, ECG, Phlebotomy, Urinalysis
- Vaccination under patient group directions and ordering of vaccines, ensuring correct storage
- Monitoring and support of the management of patients with long-term conditions/chronic diseases, with a holistic patient centred approach
- Assist with cervical screening programme
- Administer prescribed drug therapy, ensure safe custody of drugs
- Assist with Warfarin monitoring
- Assist in provision of minor surgery, coil and implant fittings
- Assist with co-ordination of Infection Control policy and audit
- Training and supervision of junior nursing staff
- Continue education/development to benefit service delivery and meet educational requirements
- Ensure confidentiality at all times
- Administer travel vaccines and offer holistic travel advice
- Work with nursing team to ensure clinical areas meet a satisfactory infection control level and remain adequately stocked with consumables
- Other duties as reasonably required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibility, training and scale of the post

To work collaboratively with other members of the nursing team to influence and implement policy and change in the Practice
